How it looked!

I was driving spiritedly on a nice summers day on a backroad when my gearbox decided to chew the 3rd gear selector and try to fire it out of the Diff casing. £175 and a ride home from the AA man later I was home.

You can just see the brass selector poking out!

Took the engine out and decided to change Cambelt and a few other bits.
Here is my cambelt:

Looks like it was about to snap!

So we painted the engine up to look nice and put back in.

When it was back in and running it didn't make oil pressure and ended up ruining the bores and crank.

I bought a megane B/E to replace my Williams B/E as it was going to cost more than £300 to rebuild my B/E.

Freshly painted engine with new Megane B/E.

New 406 V6 Brembos

Freshly painted panel in new colour!

Nathanh spraying front wing.

Rear arch....... :shock:

Spray Renault Capsicum Red
Fit Brembos
Fit 2118's in anthracite with R888's
Fit Carbon fibre sunroof replacement panel
Roll cage
buckets and harnesses
Coilovers

Are you replacing the rear arch or just filling it again?

I bought a replacement arch from a 1.2 to cut up and weld into place, so it should be the same if i cut it before the crease and bend the lip on the arch back to the right angle.

Then I would imagine a small amount of filler will be required just to tidy it up!

Just the oil pump drive is internal and the pressure sender is 90 degrees to the Willy one, thats about it.

sorry to tell you this buy you have put those calipers on the wrong way around! The bleed nipple should be at the top! FAIL! :rasp:

Progress from today.
Rear arch being repaired!

My bumper is not pink Rob, it must have just been a bad picture!

Progress from yesterday.
Bonnet being repaired as it has millions of stone chips and the other wing is in Primer ready to paint.

The rear arch is now sorted!
The line is just where there is filler that i havn't sanded. This will be coming off when we prep it.
I covered it in rust nomming paint so all that hard work doesnt go down the pan over the next few days while its on the drive.

I changed it to Capsicum because I was getting bored of blue and I wanted to have something different without it looking like a fast and furious car.

Was thinking about Alien green or white but I didn't bother in the end.

I kinda took my mates Trophy as inspiration.

I think that paint has got a fair few years in it before it starts to turn napl........... pink.

I am running widetrack with lowering springs.

I think I am going to get coilovers for it though. I had FK coilovers when I had valver suspension and I loved them.

Cheers man! It was starting to show its age close up though.


Todays progress was:

I sanded down half of the car ready for primer and I also sanded all the rust out of the engine bay and painted it with Hammerite rust eating primer.

Then it started raining so i gave up.

A more recent pic - all the front end is now sprayed (bonnet, bumpers and wings)

Would someone also be able to anwser this, does a ph1 16v have silver inserts in the bumpers?

I've seen some ph2s with silver trim (not halfords specials either)

but on a ph1, they should be a mustard colour usually
