Car  e60 M5 -172- dciheid
noticed surface rust on the brake discs which i want to tidy up and refurb as car isnt used as much as it once was.

any suggestions for approach and product selection?

As Mark said Charlie boy its the only way...get it out and smash fvck out it up n down the A725 and surrounding roads lol..

or hire it to me while red shed is off the road!!! there will soon be no rust!! it might even come back to u with some H&R's ;)

hmm no laugh, was being serious.

ok well brakefest it is then.

iain, ill hire it if you make me an offer

surface rust isn't going to cause a problem surely....? it comes off as soon as you tap the brakes.... and even if left doesn't cause any damage...

Lol at surface rust on the brake discs, all cars get it if they aren't driven for a bit.

You can always paint the non-friction part of the disc ie, the centre. Quite a few people use Hammerite without problems!

I have painted the hubs and the vented outer edge before, the rest gets swept by the pad so they always look spot on.

Sweet - Link ? :)

I was going to get a set of discs nickel plated to stop the unswept areas going rusty lol
