Switching up insurance from 1.2 to a 172

  PH-QUICK
So if everything goes according to plan would like to buy a 172 after my renewal at the start of march, as i will then have some decent NCB.

but this will mean i'll have a gap between renewal date and the date i'll have a new car to be insured on.

SO - whats the best way to do it?

Get the best quote for the 172 and see if they'll insure me on the 1.2 for a month or so at the start of the policy

OR

renew current policy and cancel it after a month, then get a new policy on the 172.

opinions?

I'd probably get the best price I could for the 172, then go with that insurer to insure the 1.2. Then simply change the car on the policy when you actually get the 172. In theory, your insurance should only go up to the price you got quoted on the 172 in the first place. That way you'd get your next year's NCB faster.

But that's just me... whether or not there's any substance to this I don't know. Insurance companies are known for quoting cheaper prices for new customers to get them on board, so it might not work out as well.

I suggest picking up the blower and actually speaking to an insurance company to find out what they can do for you.

I'd do the first option.. Get the best price on the 172 and then phone the company up and ask about insuring a 1.2 for a while on that policy...
