Take the hit or 106 gti?

  rps13
Basically it's time to try and insure a 172 again.

have had this problem before, which left me with a half dci/172 rotting in the garden.

i'm 19 with 2 years ncd and in the position to buy a 172/cup for up to £4000

my insurance on the 172 will be £1890 for next year (best possible quote)

do i take the hit or do i just look at 106 gti's?

or something with a similar fun factor?

help guys this is doing my head in!

I personally wouldn't go over a grand for insurance but thats just me! I reckon wait a bit mate... I'm 24 and paying just over £600 fully comp on a 182, which is still a lot imo but not too drastic!

You've got the rest of your life to get fast/nice cars, whats the rush :D

Give it a year. With the current financial insecurity, wait and you'll get an even better bargain. Get a 172 (not a cup) if insurance is a hassle, most places charge more for the cups.

But you'd have to declare the mods/ the conversion etc etc.

Id try find a nice standard saxo vts/ 106 gti.

have you driven them both? i think it would be a good idea to test drive them

i dont think i could spend 2k on insuring a clio though

I haven't driven either,

to be honest one of my friends drives a cooper s and i think it's absolutely pussy. but that's probably just the power delivery.

i need something raw.

hence the choice of cars

glanza is out of the question too

just go for it mate.
remember the insurance should get cheaper after a year so just take the hit.
it would be worth it

  Ph 1 172
go for a phase 1 172 i just bought mine 3 days ago and its a good car to buy i love it. insurance is a slight problem. call greenlight up they managed to get me a quote for 800quid. i have 2 years ncb but im 24 (might make a difference. best thing to do is call insurance companies up and get a quote on both 106gti and 172 see which you can afford
