Bang on

There's a 330bhp at the wheels Nogaro blue b5 s4 avant up for £4900 atm.

I was ogling at it today 😧

all fine until you need to do the timing chain (probably needing it done already) at a cost of about £3000 or more.

RX7? great car WHEN IT RUNS (I have owned 2, the '85 I owned blew its apex seals on me on a road trip and I also had to put new engine in my Turbo II)

A boosted Clio would be a blast (and probably still more reliable than the other suggestions on here)

What the f**k?!

If you're familiar with the running costs of a b5 s4 would you pm me please

I don't know much about the running costs but he's right about the timing chain, most of the price would be labour as it's an engine out jobby.

To correct my statement, It is the B6 S4 with the timing change issues, the B5 has the 4 year/40k interval on the belt (and overheating turbo's)

Been off line since initial post, read the first 10 or so posts and am very encouraged, all hit the nail on the head, labour of love, not gonna sell it, if you can do it; do it etc etc. It's going in next week, have to let them know if I want 240 stage one or up to 300plus stage 3

Read the first 2 pages now and I have to say the quality of response is pretty high and on the mark eg, since I first posted I've bought a noggy blue 2000 s4 avant for fun day to day (absolutely love it) I've already got 2 s**t cars for boring day to day. I am in a strange place of having small amounts of grands to fritter rather than having heaps of cash to buy the fancy newer cars

I used to own a B5 S4 it was a car I wanted for ages. Unfortunately the ownership experience changed that! Don't get me wrong it went like stink, she was barely modified just an exhaust and a Revo map. In a straight line not many could touch it! However show it a corner and it was boring as hell. Anyone can go fast in a straight line, but the twisty's is where the fun is! After about 6 month's I sold it on and bought my 3rd Clio. The Trophy and I couldn't be happier! I'm also toying with the idea of possible forced induction. I'm yet to see a really quick Clio in the flesh!
