tappety crappy engines

hi everyone i know this has been covered before but i need a refresh ion this i realise they are loud in the morning from cold (172 engines) but bewteen 2-3 revs my engine is very tappety even more so when the air con is on...now i have not had the aux belt and idler tensioner replaced or the cambelt could it be the aux belt in particular that is generating this noise any help greatly appreciated cheers...the car has always been serviced and just had fully synthetic elf oil put in

it could be a tensioner or pulley bearing
i once had a tapping noise caused by a mnufacturing imperfection with a new aux belt!

hi there mate it does it when its cold which is fine but it normally does that renault weerrriing sound from cold but it does it when its warm and as said above does it more when the climate is on

ok im gettin the same noise at 30k an im on 33k now is it not a good idea to carry on as ive just bookd in to yozza for the end of the month jobby or should i get it done like this week.....?

Well from what i can work out from what people have told me etc yea it is the aux belt an items attachd to it.

Mine does it too, sound slike a complete dog if you stand outside the car and hold it around 3k. Im gonna get mine fully serviced, aux belt and all tensioners done to see if that helps. If not, it may be the alternator or water pump.........

Sounds like the tensioner and or belt need changing. You can usually tell as it start when your getting cloe to when they should be changed anyway.

cheers mr edde thanks for your comments it is due to be changed mate just need to get the parts ordered and see even if it does not cure it needs doing anyway but i think it is cos it is worse when climate is on....fingers crossed
