Tappy Engine..2002 1.2 16v Expression

On inital startup, the car has been noticed to become tappy. The car has done 32,000 miles since Aug 2002. Used for motorway miles, and after roughly 14,000 miles from service requires to be topped up with oil. Its starting to sound like a CVH old ford fiesta.

Now, what can it be.?

Piston Slap

Tappetts need adjustting

If so, would i be covered under warranty for a such item. Surely a car if it is piston slap, (or whatever its called) would be covered for up too 60k.? As for the tappets, if it gotta be done, it gotta be done.



This just makes me more want to px the car and get away from renault.



What should i get.. bearing in mind that the car is paid for..

get it checked under warrenty,mine started at about that and you should hear it now.their is no adjustment on the tappets.all of these engines ive heard are quite noisey.

as for the oil renault have a limit on how much it should go through and its a lot less miles than that.14k is ok to have to top it up,remember its only a litre you will read on your display theirs still four litres in their so it isnt exactly burning it.

and as for the car out of them go for the impreza,dont get a z3 unless your a woman lol

Well i figured.. £4000 px on the clio.

£7,000 or £8,000 over 5yrs...

I always been told to buy the car you want. Then in life when you tied up, you can say u always wanted it.

But, im nearly 25, 5yrs no claims, and not a boy racer...got no hobbies..and the clio is too small for space. With its squeeling front wheels when i turn, and the damage to the underside, and its painted drivers side, and this tappy thing..has pushed me over the edge..

Time to go, mr blue clio..

Get a VRS Fabia diesel for ~£11k

^^^^also a good choise,does anyone know what the skoda is its the wee hatchback one an i think you get it in an rs version maybe?saw it on a show the other day the 5 door version beaten a mini cooper s round the track!

Thats the Fabia Vrs you saw and it was against a normal Mini Cooper not an S, a VRS would need loads of money spent on it to keep with a Cooper S
