Tar under seats

hey i have seen a few peoples progress threads, and in many of them they remove tar from uner the seats.
why is there tar here?

i think its to do with sound proofing mate not 100% on that maybe one of the boffins on here will correct me

yup, sound deadening pads.

reduces tinny sounds into more of thuds and lowers general road noise on the floor pans
