TDC/cam sensor

  clio sport 172 ff
Hi, My car is currently in getting the timing belt changed. the garage is telling me that they need a "special bolt" which they can only get from renault to hold the cam sensor in place. Is the cam sensor the same as the TDC sensor? and if so is this true about it being a certain type of bolt they require? or is it just a 6 or 8 mm thread?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Whack crack pipe are they smoking?

there is no cam sensor on a 172/182, only the VVT actuator plunger thingy (why that needs a new bolt i would have NO idea)

I assume they are talking about the VVT actuator thing and they say the bolt had snapped so they are replacing it. but they say its a certain type n they can only get 1 from renault?

I have no idea mate. they had just reported it snapped n said they would contact renault for a new one?

So have you ever heard of anything else requiring a certain bolt on the engine? if I am wrong in thinking its the TDC sensor

theres a locking tool thing , fred could explain ,

but where have you taken your car for this doing, have they ever working on a clio 172 before?

its called centreville garage. they claim to be german and french specialists n have 25 years experience so they must be doin something right i suppose. Na its not the locking tool they need its a bolt to hold a sensor in place

I cant think of any sensors that have unusual bolts holding them. They must be on about the dephaser pulley.

Better hope the belt is right when it comes back

Ive only spoke to them on the phone. I think it would be best to go in so they can show me what exactly it is they need
