Technical Q MK1 172

When I first bought my Clio MK1 172, accelerating gave me a nice swoooosh kind of sound. Now when I accelerate it's more of a grunt even thought i've made no mod's to exhaust or what not. The engine just seems to be growling more than the nice swooosh sound. Anything wrong or completely normal with this type of engine? I know it's not the quietest but somethings changed.

Maybe in need of a service? It had been serviced at 42k and its done about 50k now.:dapprove:

Also when I turn the ignition off, lock the car and leave it, I can hear what I beleive is my exhaust making ::tit tit tit tit tit tit tit:: noises. Normal?

Anyhelp, gratefully appreciated.

Exhaust noise is just the metal contracting as it cools down, nothing to worry about!

If the car is a bit growlier now it is probably the exhaust silencing breaking down over time or moving inside the silencers - again, I wouldn't worry about it! Yoz managed to blow the silencing completely out of his exhaust I believe... LoL :clown:

My 172 gets noiser as the miles pile on.
It's serviced regulary so don't think it's anything to worry about :D

I miss that swooooosh sound. I don't see how it can be related to the silencer in the exhaust. The sound didn't come from the exhaust.

The exhaust was brand new in July when I bought the car. It failed on it's MOT with regards to the exhaust, thus having to change it. For some weird reason I recently topped the car up with good oil and the noise returned for a short period but then went. That's the only thing I can think of.
