little update

came to start the car yesterday morning and it wouldnt start, and then the battery flattened.

Got a set of jump leads off a mate of mine and spent 20 mins in the evening trying to get it started.

No luck.

Though i had spotted a problem with the alternator, but there wasnt one.

Got the RAC out as i have homestart. Very useful when owning a renault.

Guy turned up, told him the symptoms, put a battery booster on, had a fiddle round near the box and starter, and asked me to start it, and it fired into life off the key. Turns out the crank sensor had got gunked up, and wiggling it around cleans up the prongs.

Stood about chatting to him for around an hour as he was a big bike fan, so we had a good chinwag about wrapping, the TT and bikes.

Was ready to burn this car to the ground when it looked like this.

Forthcoming plans are to sort out a few more of the niggly problems

Polish the carbon fibre induction, its hazy as fook.
Get all the screws and clips that will hold all the scuttle trays and loose cables in the engine bay as they should be
Remove the front bumper and clip it all back properly
Remove the nearside headlight and figure out why it points up.
Remove the seats, and respace them like they should be so i can actually remove the screwdriver from the runner
Get a parcel shelf that doesnt have holes in it
Remove the Amp cableing ? RC leads / inline fuses from the bay and interior and sell them
Reroute the Iphone cable so it comes out of the airvent by my holder
Fix the inboard driveshaft gaitor (ie replace the shaft)
Repaint the engine cover and put that back on, repaint the fuse cover also, and the induction housing
Cover the dashtop, fill the holes in the a pillars, and cover them, along with the roof lining and b/c pillars in alcantara to match the seats
Fix the boot lock that doesnt lock

Save up for some proper suspension that doesnt crash around and give a s**t bouncy ride.

Later in the year - full respray in BMW M3 Estoril Blue, this will include de-denting it all, removing the locks and washer jets, and if i can get enough coins together - some white OZ Ultraleggeras in 16"

im not a massive fan of Monaco tbh, i wrapped it white, because i can, plus its hiding some of the defects

and estoril blue is the best colour ever.

Found out ive not only got an uprated engine mount, but gearbox mount aswell. Amazes me that people spend money on this stuff but neglect basic servicing....

took a few shots the other day but forgot to upload them

uprated mounts

Small update,

Its been confirmed in the next couple of weeks that the car will be going into my mates bodyshop, but ive had a slight change of plan

All the white vinyl will be coming off, and all the parking dings, and scratches will be smoothed out and repainted Monaco. Not my original choice, as above, but it seems Monaco is quite a popular colour, so it seems a shame to change it.

Thinking about getting rid of the door locks while im at it. Has anyone done this ? what do I need to do?

Was also thinking about removing the bonnet washer jets and putting them in the scuttle, smoothing the bullets off , and into the main strip also, then ive got to get a new set of Renault Sport badges for the tailgate, and getting a Lutecia badge also to go with some future upgrades I have in mind. Rear spoiler washer jet and lines are going as ive got no rear wiper anyway. GOnna be repainting the engine cover and induction kit caps in Monaco also to get rid of the cream. Along with the fuse cover, and re-stipple painting the inlets fuel rail cover, as will the calipers and metal brake lines where the previous owner painted them bright blue. Also gonna take the fogs out and make some brake ducts as my arch liners are missing anyway.....

When all this happens, the wheels are getting whipped off and down to a refurber for an acid dip and powdercoat in silver.

Im getting laid off for 5 weeks in the next couple of weeks, so I’ll have plenty of time to carry out this.

Will be a kind of OEM+ J-Euro, Track ****, thing.

In fact, im just gonna call it Elkworks style.

One of your gearbox mount bolts is fitted the wrong way. Bolt from the bottom, nut on top. ;)

Nice clio! <3 the rear bumper!

intersting couple of weeks.

the inner arch liner on the drivers side collapsed from the bolt. this led the bumper to become loose as there was only one bolt and clevis nut holding it on, couple of cable ties as a quick fix.

took it down the unit today to sort this, and it gave me a good chance to look at the engine, and underside of the car in detail.

the underside is actually pretty clean, no rust, or huge dents. however, the previous oil leak has covered most of the subframe, arb, driveshaft, well everything really. so started cleaning that up

wheels off to sort the catching and missing bumper bolts

i have already taken a quick rag to the arb, to see what colour it should be...

so, while i was there something else happened.... driven into the booth

261757_10150226547099023_587484022_7329947_4327264_n.jpg

and an hour later....

267333_10150226613949023_587484022_7330617_2643576_n.jpg

reason for using the booth was to get the heat in there upto 60 degrees for ten mins to soften the vinyl, yes it was fooooking hot stripping it off, i was soaked with sweat when i came out

now this has proved there was a quick bodge respray on some parts of the car, the front bumper and rear spoiler have lost some laquer, despite all the heat in the panels and vinyl itself.

no biggie, thats a paint booth its in, so its getting sorted as soon as i can.

ive also made a list of things that are wrong with the car, and things i want to do.

i want to put stock suspension back on with real 40mm springs, although these are stamped as apex springs, theyre certainly not 40mm.

i want a stock front bumper, so if anyone wants to swap a smooth one for a stock one, then please pm me!

the more i look a the exhaust the more im fed up of the noise, i'd much prefer a full stock system, so if anyone wants to swap a stock system with a cat, for a magnex system with magnex decat- then pm me! its mint, but im getting too old for loud exhausts. although it does sound lovely.

  Ph2 172 MB 77/468
Well ive sold my house. and bought a new one, so moneys gonna be pretty tight now.

Was thinking about a respray, but im now thinking of a trophy esque bright red wrap, as i have the know how

was also thinking about new rims. the 16s imo look too small when the car is as low as this. im not fussed about beign the lowest car on the internet, but it was thinking about going upto 17" rims.

calibre vintage 8x17s in fact.

i honestly could give less of two f***s if theyre fake splits. i build my cars for me, not scene points.

i think that could all look pretty nice as a package.

  Ph2 172 MB 77/468
few more updates

ordered the black suede for the A,B and C pillars, and also the roof lining. If theres enough left, i'll fill the wholes in the parcel shelf and do that also.

Bought a set of stock springs also, as the ride on this car is beyond shocking.

Counted the dents in the roof last night, and it comes in at a staggering 22. So i'm gonna get the P38 out soon, and start filling those.

Bonnet - 5 dents.

Drivers door - 4 dents

and so on.

This is why the whole car is getting a blow over.

The drivers seat is coming back out also as the fact it slides when braking and accelerating isnt just annoying, its f**king dangerous. Its got a screwdriver in it atm, to stop it moving.

Im gonna re-instate the spacers that should be there.

So its slowly going back to oem, and will be a much better car wth the engine and body sorted.

right

stock springs arrived today from Mr_Wills1*2 - bloody quickly i might add :D

Cant wait to get them on, as the bone shaking apex's make every journey a nightmare.

Im looking for a stock front bumper aswell if anyones after a smoothed one, it will be primed up before sale as well so you can paint it whatever colour you want.

ps. Im after a straight swap....

  Ph2 172 MB 77/468
