The 182 is going.... :( But Advice needed.

My 04 plate 182 is now sold!

the buyer will be collecting this weekend. but one question.

This is the first time in years ive sold a car privately! I normally part-ex them in. So.... upon recieving of the cash and handing over the keys... Im guessing to be safe I will need to write a receipt.. What would you put on it?? Im guessing the basics, name of buyer/seller, type of car, colour, etc etc, but just want to be clear on it.

anyone have a template?

any help, advice will be lovley.

thanks.

i would write date of sale, name of you and him, that he is buying the car sold as seen, and all the stuff you have said, but make sure you write two and get him to sign both copies and keep one

Just put the car details, time and date, name and address of both parties and then sold as seen, no warranty given or implied.

Something like that should do.

  cock mobile.
I've always wrote sold as seen, but I think technically it means nothing in legal terms.

He's the one that should really want a receipt not you tbh, once you've got the cash that's all you need :)

I never wrote a receipt . As said , sold as seen wouldn't mean anything legally . Just make sure you fill out the parts on the V5 , his and your part .

for some strange reason my car receipt was on my kitchen table this morning,
after being in a box in the cupboard for over a year.

this is what the bloke put....

his name
address
phone number.

recieipt

for the sum paid of:

£3500.00
Three Thousand and Five Hundred Pounds only.

Paid by
My name
my address

make sure you get one signed too mate that way he cant have any come bck,as you will have a signed slip saying he bought it sold as seen, not saying anything bad about the car but you have no idea who this guy is,better to be safe than sorry

Car Details - Type and Reg No
Date sold

And write sold as seen, no warranty given or implied.

Type it up, do 2 copies, both sign them and keep 1 copy each.

Just one thing.

Don't forget to write the EXACT TIME he took it
off your hands in a 24h clock, you dont want him
getting done for speeding and then blaming you.

This is spot on i just add, '& tested documents supplied' after sold as seen.

No come back, so long as you get the magic 'sold as seen'.
