The best way to clean my car is.....?

  Monaro VXR/Cupra TDi
Thank you.

Samurai added and buffed. Suspect I've used too much it's produced a sort of hologram effect after buffing. Some effort required in removing it also.

The instructions say a lustre will form after two to three hours of leaving the car in the sunlight. Then buff once more.

Also a bottle of Swissol Pneu for black tire effect is included in the carry case. Any good?

Thanks.:)

Applied another coat of Swissol Samurai yesterday.

Not happy with the results. Ok I did use a linen free cotton cloth to apply, and another to remove.

Hard to the spread wax consistently covering an area completely without different quatities being used. Had to apply some pressure to spread it also. Is this normal?

Not all would come off when buffing either. Left a greasy haze and highlighted swirl marks. Eventually took some of it off with SRP and sealed with EGP.

Obviously this is a hard wax. Are most more difficult to apply than liquid products? Whats the benefits of hard wax over a liquid item?

Many thanks.:)

Hard waxes can be a b**ch to apply at this time of year, I remember last year doing some Collinites and even with thin layers it was a nightmare to remove.

Hard waxes generally last longer than softer waxes, apart from that not much difference I wouldn't say...

The harder Swissvax's really need warming well at this time of year to allow them to spread easily. Try using a decent MF to remove the wax - after going round the car leave it for a few hours like they say before buffing again will a quick detail spray, or if your pushed for time wipe each panel down after with a spritz of quick detailer.

Odd really as the tub of Samurai was indoors before applying. Could be because it's around two years old?

There's not a great deal of it left. Rather than risk another failure any suggestions on quality liquid wax?

Also is Onyx a hard wax?

Both my Onyx and Saphir are both very soft, so you should be ok with the Onyx. I warm the harder waxes up by rubbing my fingers round the top of the pot till it turns to liquid and then use the foam hand pad. The age should not be an issue, just work it a tad longer to warm it before application.

Not a fan of liquid waxes to be honest only one I have really liked is Clearkote Carnuba Wax which does look good.

Thanks Rich.:)

I'll use the tecnique you mentioned on the remainder of the Samurai. Hopefully it'll turn out with pleasing results. If so once finished I'll purchase the Onyx you suggested.

If not I'll give the Clearcote Canuba a go. Reasonably easy to apply and remove? Any idea where to purchase?

The distructions say 1/2 - 1 oz per car and it is 16oz bottle IIRC. You will get way more than 16 cars out of it.

You would be better using a foam hand pad to apply the wax as it is easier to get a thin even coat with, a cloth should not have caused any problems though.

Just read some of these posts, n thought i'd be able to get some help here.

I've just bought a red clio and was wondering what is the best way to keep the colour bright and to stop/prevent it fading?

What age is the Clio ?

Any good polish and sealant will help. Autoglym Super Resin and Extra Gloss is a good starting point.

The bottle of Meguiars Gold Class shampoo is begining to run out. Very pleased with the results of it though, unlike the Gold Class wax that came with it.

So another bottle of shampoo is required. Nothing outrageously expensive but with the pleasing results of the Gold Class.

Or perhaps another bottle of Gold Class?

Suggestions.....

Many thanks.:)

Off the shelf Gold Glass is not bad , Sonax Gloss Shampoo from Vauxhall is also very good.

Shopping online Duragloss Wash from Serious Performance gets my vote.

Thank you Rich, much appreciated as always.:)

Duragloss Wash eh? Simple straightforward application and washing as with most other shampoos?

Greater shine than the Gold Class shampoo?

I have been using Chemical Guys Extreme Wash N Wax for the past year which I have been very impressed with but recently switched to Victoria's shampoo which is even better, the other day I didn't even dry the car as it began pissing down, but a quick spin up the road and it looks almost as good as when it was waxed - which was about 3 months ago now!

People on Detailing World rate the Duragloss though too, not tried that one myself though.

Same application as any conventional shampoo. Seems to leave a better finish for me.

Probably will try the Duragloss, due to common appraisal on here. Though the Victoria sounds interesting....?

I hope so, at £13 a pop (and not a huge bottle) hoping for good things. Its apparently extra viscous and is especially suited for making a clay solution with.

Will let you know how I get on with it mate.

Cheers Brand. Look forward to hearing the results. Haven't clayed the motor yet, not really up on that sort of thing.

Hope the shampoo works out well for you.:)

No problemo.

I would highly recommend claying your car if you are looking to fully detail your exterior, it is an essential stage on most if not all cars I would say, assuming its not been done before as I'm assuming? Even a very mild clay will improve the finish a lot, e.g. making it better for polishing onto.

Anyway, the Duragloss should be good if you go for that, as I said not one I have used to date but meant to be good.

  Monaro VXR/Cupra TDi
I doubt it's been done in the car's life so far. On 26K now. Should it be done after all swirls marks have been removed?

  Mito Sportiva 135
TBH even for the soft clays I am still very cautious about using them, and normally only clay before polishing just to be on the safe side.

If you are getting your car PCd for example, you would probably get a claying include as part of the detail.

There seems to be two forms of Duragloss shampoo.

A 901 and 903. Both are concentrates I believe. Which one did you use Rich and gets your vote?

Thanks.:)

I have the smaller bottle here the 901. As above think it is just the quantity that differs.

DuraGloss shampoo and ClearKote Carnuba Moose Wax arrived about an hour ago.:)

Weather is dire, and so I'll have to wait for another day when it's not so bad.:dapprove:

When reading the instructions on the ClearKote Moose Wax it says nothing about needing to buff the haze after the application.:S

Am I right and no haze is produced, or is there need for buffing?

  106 GTi
With the CMW you can apply it to the whole car and remove it, or do a panel at a time on and off.

The Vanilla Moose Hand Glaze goes on and off without needing to allow it to haze though.
