The Cars Been on The Rolling Road

  VRS
I popped down to the same place that did ryans 182 on tuesday and had a few runs on the rollers.

now i know rollers arent very accurate across the board but i aimed to get there at the same time of day as ryan did as the weather was very similar on thursday and i thought it would act as a good comparison between the slightly diferent modded motors

the result was a tad lower than i had hoped but realistically talking, i know that rolling roads vary and can be configured to be very 'generous' and unrealistic

the result seem fair enough and proves as a good comparison using ryans as a benchmark

ryans has an induction kit and cat back exhaust and got 175.9 bhp

mine has the induction kit and cat back exhaust + decat, inlets, remap and got 191.2 bhp

this basically means that the decat, inlets and remap have given me 15.3 bhp extra

i hope this helps people to see the gains available from those mods even if they are on slight

away from the rolling road the cars a different story, the ramp and mods have led to a noticeable difference in mid range which makes the car a lot more fun and responsive to drive :D

cheers for reading

tbh I'd be expecting about 190bhp from those mods and not much more so I'd say it's about right :) You really do need cams to push past 190 imho.

You getting a 'bung' from the tuners?

lol no matey, the rolling road wasnt in any way affiliated with any of the cliosport.net tuners/companies either

is the performance that noticalle mate? im weighing up my options

very noticable mid range yes matey :D the tuning isnt very good value for money on the clio but the improvements are very noticable, especially if you drive a standard 182 and mine back to back :)

the best mod by far is the remap though, if i had to chose one

yea i know hat you mean matey, im happy with the results as they are honest results unlike LAD style overexaggerated figures lol

ive got a 172 with induction, exhaust, decat, group N ecu thingy and am wanting to get mine put on a RR. wonder what bhp i'll end up with. the problem with mine is that i bought it like that so have nothing to compare it too, and wether its worth spending the money on cams etc. have money burning a hole in my pocket at the mo haha

Nice result mate. how many runs did he do and did he get a lower 1 like i did when engine oil is not that hot??

if you go to a rolling road then get someone off here with a standard 172 to do a run at the same time, that gives you a good indication of what the mods have added to your motor :D

at the end of the day though it not just about peak power, its about how the car drives daily through all the gears and rev range :D

he only did 2 runs as the results were very similar so there was no need for more, my oil was hot anyway as i had driven 20 miles there straight from work lol

My first run when i got there was 168.2 lol so he warmed it and thats when he kept getting 175.9

Hummm...I would have liked to see another couple of GG's!!

Mine ran 192.6 and thats a 172, Fair enough i had headwork, but i didn't have the 182 mani...

Like said above, RR's are a bit hit or miss! - If it feels fast thats all that matters.

Did you have the car RR when it was std?

I think there good gains really , as said Cam's/itb's to kick on from there!

I'm getting a BTB, and a decat put on in the next week or so if i get in the mid/late 180's i'll be well chuffed same mods minus the IK

i didnt get it rr'd when standard no matey :( thats why i went to the same place that ryan went to 2days earlier as he has a 182 on the same year :) its as close as i could get for a comparison lol

Mine ran 176.2 on RSTuninnig roller's , with inlet's , itg panel , remap, so i'm hopeing a decent zorst , and decat will free up a few Filly's!

Where did you get it RRd?

Paul's roller's are very tight! Lol , but i'd rather have the truth than someone telling me it's 200bhp!

i got it done at a place in congleton (where i live) the guy was sound and new his stuff, he did a few runs to give a pretty decent average, both runs were very similar so there was no need for more :)

i know what you mean bout the truth, it would have been mint to here him say its running 200bhp but at the end of the day it doesnt make you knob bigger so i'd prefer an honest result :clown:

Thats a bit down, lazbazrre. Should have made standard 'quoted' power.
What does a standard 182 make on Paul's rollers?

Not sure what std run on the roller's, the most a Clio has ran ( without cams/itg , ect ) is 184bhp , that's with inlets, zorst, decat, itg panel, remap , hence tight!:)

So if i could get a touch better than 184 on Pauls rollers i'll be happy!

Theres alot of debate what std should be 182ps=179 bhp we all know you are lucky to get anywhere near that.... some people say as low as 165bhp for a std 182 is the norm? it's a lottery!!!!!!!

I think you got a good result with the mods you have so you should be happy with the result... :)

Not bad Andy! I'm going to pop over to Mychanics when I've built my Nova engine so he can set the 40's up....

Only ever had mine done at powerstation, ran 181 or something the first time, 179 the second. For a 172 with exhaust and inlets, hmmmm waaaay too high :(

To put these results into perspective a 197 with k&n apollo and full system ran 168 and 140lbft then, took the crappy filter off and remaped to make 187 and 162lbft!

Low but better and it was 30 degrees in the dyno room that day and the fans i have right now are not great. With another fan i'd expect the cars to make maybe 5 or 10 hp more!

  a thirsty one
i should be putting my 182 on the rollers later this year for the third time, first run was with just a few thousand on the clock just after its run in period, then ran again 12 months later (both times std) and i will be going back to the same rollers again this year now its had some work done (itg/btb).

good results though makavelli, after my next RR with the breathing mods i'll get it chipped for next years RR and should give some ideas on bhp gains per £, i always use same rollers and same time of year, i know its not 100% scientific but better than nothing.
