The cold start problem - mk1 172

  clio 172 cup

I know this has been discussed to death and was aware of the problem before I collected my 172, but the cold start problem is alot worse than expected, i leave it running every morning for 10min before heading to work and it drives fine, but when i come out at lunchtime Ive got to let it heat up for 5 min before it will run ok without jumping and stuttering, and today i had been driving for an hour, went into my mates for 40 min, came out started it tried to drive away and it died on me, even tho the temp guage was near half way, is there anything I can do to help the cold start problem.

Im using shell optimax fuel, should I change the plugs, leads, fuel filter etc, would this help slightly.

Another thing ive noticed is that it idles around 600 when warm, is this too low?
Way to low it should be 800~850 at idle and if there were any problem ie flat battery should go to 900.
