The DR350

  VX220
So last sunday i got my hands on the DR350 for £575. I bought this for blasting to work on which is about 4/5miles and to keep the buell out of the salt so it doesn't disappear on me!
So this is how it stood when i first saw it at Kempton Park,

First thing to do was take the header off to to paint. Used some optiglanze to get rid of the rust and took it back to with a wire brush and some wire wool.

Next was to give it a quick service, changed the oil filter and spark plug. The oil looked like it had been in there a while.

Now the buell is noisey so im used to my loud bikes, this thing had the biggest silencer on it i have ever seen. I tried sourcing a second hand pipe but couldnt really find anything so bit the bullet and spent £150 on a new DEP pipe, at least ill be able to sell it once i sell the bike.

Also covered the seat and removed the graphics. A friend of mine works for Monster Energy and is sending me some graphics to tidy the panels up. This is how it stands now.

  Turbos.
I'd rather get the bus personally, but whatever floats your boat!

Will look a lot better with the Monster graphics on, looks a bit '90s at the moment!

make look at the number plate, 1992 ;)
Looks like a classic parked next to the buell and the old mans road king!

Plus there is no bus route where i work and im saving that excitement for when im 65+

monster stickers maybe...but they are pretty cheap on ebay ;)

As for the fork covers they are there for a purpose once it comes to green laning, i might get some black boots on there though. Hopefully the stickers will be here tomorrow.

Most MX bikes now dont run covers, its probably the thing that ages the bike the most. Is there grease inside them or something?

There's oil! The cover stop the fork from becoming pitted and the destroying the seals when they compress!

pipe and seat make a big difference, get the frame and subframe powder coated made our drz400sm look like new again

well a couple of updates,
so i got all the old graphics off, on the tank they were under the clear coat so it was a case of getting taking the paint off and starting again.

while i was doing this i got hold of a bigger rear sprocket

but due to me having a cush drive it didnt fit...

I have now had to order one for a Husky 410 as some one in the states has told me that will fit, will just have to wait until that arrives later in the week.

the bike now looks like this...

Today i went out with a friend who knew some great BOATS and trails, with all the rain some were up to the bottom of the tank so really tested the bike and it didnt miss a beat. The only damage was hitting a root with the gear shift and bending it.

Looks good matey!

I love the exhaust, i used to have one on my dt125! is it much louder? As it didn't really make a difference on mine, well until the baffles blew! lol!

yeah the pipe is as good as straight through, you can pretty much see day light through it. Its loud but not over the top, the perfect sound for a four stroke as well. great for blasting through the lanes if nothing else.
