Before I read that ill just say SBDevelopments is a very well respected company. What they can do with Vauxhall engines is amazing.

Whos the enemy? Did I miss something? Interesting article...
Im guessing that this is the lump that will be in the fiesta RS.....

Besides the mid-range Fiesta ST and the Fiesta Junior World Rally Car, Ford unveiled the Fiesta we really wanted to see: the RS. Though only a show car right now, "it is anticipated that a production version of the Fiesta RS Concept could be ready for the road in under two years following programme approval," apparently. Ford wants to wait and gauge public and media reaction before it gives the project the full nod; "we arent going to finalise technical specifications until we hear the feedback from potential customers", says TeamRS director Jost Capito. "But we’re fully aware of the performance expectations for this type of vehicle and what our RS customers expect. As we look to fine-tune the concept well make sure we dont disappoint them." Expect front-wheel drive, and power "in excess of 180bhp, with a target 0-60mph figure of around 7 seconds".

Ahhh it all fits into place... :)

In two years time though the new RS clio will be turbo charged and probably over 200bhp!

Apparently not the new Clio Sport will be just under 200hp (probably 192hp). It is likly to be an update of the 172/182 F4R engine as this is the cheapest way. Turbo power is out due to it not being as responsive also it would weight more a turbo engine.

it will be lighter and be a better drive.

Well, I do hope the New RS Clio isnt any heavier, and I also hope its not turbod.

We all know what an extra 300kg and a Turbo results in: An expensive car to run!

nearer to 200 hp than 190 hp would be nice though especially with all the other manufactuers pushing the limits. Think 200 hp would be needed to stay one step ahead of the game.

they will have to keep the insurance group the same.. maybe just push it upto grp17 in line with the meganers. but it needs to offer good economy and loweish insurance compared with 16-20k jap saloons and hatches i.e new ctr and scooby wrx. the fact that it is a supermini not a hothatch or uber saloon is the key to hitting their target market i.e. me. who want 35mpg 16grp ins and £13.5K from uk brokers with a list of £14800-£15000 in options. basically same car, new safety, same ish economy nice new racing seats and a bit better put together (which is most likely looking at the new meganesRS golf like build) and running costs.. otherwise it just starts to get silly and not remain the style of car it is.

it should also be compared to fiesta ST if the RS is £16000 remember the RS isnt going to get good price reductions or depreciate if its good just like the FocusRS and compared to C2VTS and other superminis not 20K hothatches like the golf. personally i think they will make a great job of the new clio but wreck the sport models with finely tuned but vauge over asisted steering its the way all new cars are going. the 172/182 are the last cars of their type to get the steering setup right.
