Fantastic price and nice to.see the revised layout, I just hope they revised the internals so it feels a more balanced machine than the 800

Get this mate. It blurs the lines between DA and Rotary. Practice proper machine control.

My arms were dead after using my old silverline for a few hours lol.

You needed Forearms.

oooh now thats a price that would temp me into the machine polishing world!

Have you given it a good session yet Gally? Would be interested in a review.

Stupid question alert: All the threads/info I have read about machine polisihg relates to pads to use for certain products and how to apply the product. Question is, do you use the machine to buff the product off too?

I used the original machine about a year ago, well before it came to the uk. Sold throughout Europe under a different name. Was a bit upset when I realised Cyc were selling the ep800 and the 801 was a better machine and available.

It's a superb entry machine, again probably the best entry level Rotary on the market, nice and light, slow start. Stunning price. I can't really give a review as such, rotaries are similar really.

A pro couldn't use it for 3 days worth of correction at a time, it's an entry level rotary remember. If I didn't have the 3M i'd buy one for using back and forth.

Gally I've got a DAS 6 , do reckon its worth plumping for this too, so I've got both to play with?
Bit of a vague question I know, guess I mean is it a step up from the DAS6 (obviously this is rotary) ?

Personally if you have spare money then yes. Rotary for polishing, DA for polishing soft paint, DA for glazing and possibly cleansing. I'd love to have both but just wasn't using the DA much and I have a technique of glazing with the rotary so it's fine.

Ordering this today to replace my silver line rotary that now smells of burning lol

Yea I have the spare money, guess if I found I didn't use the DA much I could just sell it on.
I'm gonna order one up at lunchtime :approve:
Guessing my Hexlogic pads and Menzerna polishes will work fine with it with the correct backing plate?

Gally, what makes it entry level? Motor quality?

Cost and ease of use. It has soft start, variable speeds and is comfortable. So does the Silverline, I hear you shout? Yes, but the Silverline is f**king heavy and can only be operated by ForeArms.

all this talk and recent purchases JD? anyone would think you're planning on selling the car??? used my full pot of glasur a lot recently, and I think I prefer the harder waxes so contemplating keeping the concours and selling glasur on again

back on topic, I can only comment on the 800, but presume other than layout the 801 is the same machine. The feel of them is very much like that of a DA, whereas you can feel the diference in the way the pad works the panel on a full rotary. They feel much safer than a rotary which is quite hard to explain. it really blurs the lines between DA and rotary

It's one of those things in hindsight, the little amount I use my machine, maybe I should have kept my DA and worked more on my technique instead of stepping up to rotary as I've seen more experienced users achieve identical levels of correction with both machines, yet the DA is a lot more versatile as it lends itself to using it to glaze, cleanse etc.

Totally agree Dave. Good post mate.

The quality thing is evident, little cheaper made, simple rotary motor, not as ergonomical as most (top hand position etc) heat build up sometimes. It's entry level, and a hundreds times better than Dodo's Silverline rip off, now that was pish!

Have you watched junkmans DA speed guide? Download his tune/mp3 if not.

My Mrs walked in on me watching that. 'I've married a geek!' were her immediate words

Did you use the 801 then or the 800?

800 then realised there was a 801! Not impressed! They got it in eventually!
