Some bizarre news from J's Racing...

Article from Asahi News, translated...

In shocking news, J’s racing President, Junichi Umemoto has been arrested on attempted murder charges. The bizarre incident occurred late at night on the 22nd of January in Osaka and involved 3 people, according to the police report…
Police allege that Umemoto initially brushed a pedestrian with his car, and then thinking it to be serious, started to try and flee the scene. Bizarrely, Umemoto’s colleague, 39 year old Eiji Fujikawa, then tried to stop Umemoto from leaving by jumping onto the car and holding onto the mirror.
Umemoto continued to drive approximately 100 meters with Fujikawa hanging from the mirror at which point, Fujikawa let go sustaining a fractured skull and now remains in hospital, unconscious and in critical condition.
Umemoto was reported as saying that, “…I was scared of repercussions and kept on going. I didn’t mean to kill him.”
There was no word on whether or not alcohol was involved but this has serious ramifications for Umemoto, who was considered one of Japan’s premier Honda tuners, with Umemoto himself, a decent pair of hands behind the wheel having competed in more that 100 races.

...and the Official Press Release from J's Racing H/Q, Osaka

“Presently,
We have received reports that the injured party has passed away and all of our staff are extremely shocked and saddened by the news.
We would like to pray for Mr Fujikawa and his family from the bottom of our hearts.
We view this incident extremely seriously and we will work diligently toward the education of our staff and the public at large toward road safety mindedness, notwithstanding the investigation that is also under way.
We will also co-operate with the authorities completely in this matter.
We will continue to do whatever we can to assist in this terrible situation and ensure we keep everybody informed of our movements.”

Dont know what it is about those older cars that gets to me.The straight out hard looks are awsome, and the way they have lasted is impressive.

Where do you find them for sale in the uk,or is it import only...

They'll be import only. Japanese manufacturers didn't sell much volume here back in the 70's at all let alone large engine performance models.

Saying original GT-R's carry a premium is an understatement!

KPGC10 GT-R's engines (S20, 2l inline six) go for more than entire restored KGC10 Skyline GT's. lol.

For that reason, most GT's are converted with GT-R cosmetics and sold on. They have L20 engines though, 2l inline sixes but the same basic lump as in the early 240Z's.

yerp, i thought the same, i have loved all the stanced etc MX5's that have been posted in varo=ious places, so much so that i would possibly consider one, when previously i hated them.

however that one for some reason seems like something real specail

  mx5 & 172
its special cos its sitting on the rear chassis brace - there's no way on earth that thing would actually move at that height.

yeah i used to hate them, alway said the were girls cars and if a guy was driving one it was his sister lol but after seeing what can be achieved im most likely going to get one :approve:

it looks like the owner hasnt held back on it and spent load of money on the body work and engine and i must say it looks mint :star:

My 5 was about the same height as that one for about an hour, but the strut braces were literally just sat on the deck so we raised it back up

Umm, quite a few over on ClubRoadster are about that height, and they get driven...

Just to give you an idea:

I'd love to get mine down that low, but it'd never cope on the roads over here, plus the bumpsteer would be rediculous, and then there's the fact I do like it to handle somewhat.

That red 5 is f**king insanely cool. A hefty drop, wheels and lip and they can look brilliant.
