Buzzing for it! Oh and battery sizes seems less and less important due to software and optimization.

The missus' s8+ is lasting a day and a half on one charge with half scren brightness and full qhd+ resoloution and it only has 3400mah I believe. My Note4 has 3200 and won't last more than a day with decent use. People can get carried away with battery sizes.

Thing is, if your mrs was glued to her phone watching films, playing games etc then it'd last a few hours.

I've just had a new battery in my Nexus 6 and will get 1.5- 2 days out with moderate use with screen on half brightness etc.

As soon as I up the brightness and watch videos, play games etc then it'll go to about 6 hours.

The leaked Pixel xl 2 or whatever it will be called looks good. Not sure what I'll do at the end of my contract now (Nov) as the Nexus is still more than good enough. Probably go to a sim only deal and then upgrade he phone in the future.

I had looked at the new Sony but the guy in the shop said he'd had issues with his and it was common faults.
The new Huweii and the LG G6 I think were looking decent also.

Depending on the specs and price of the Pixel 2, i might get one and you can have my Pixel XL for a good price

Haha. My new battery has made my Nexus 6 brand new again.

I can't see me upgrading and spending another £45per month on a contract when this phone is more than good enough at the moment.

Might do sim only for a year and see what's about then.

The Pixel 2 should be a cracker.

On the battery point, my other half hammers her phone. It's performing way better than I assumed.

Damn you Samsung! Just got an S8 to replace my Note 4. Went for the regular over the + as found the other too long. Thing deffo requires a case as it's like a bar of soap otherwise.

Am eligible to replace it after 6 months though so will see what the prices for the Pixel2 and Note8 are like then, I imagine they'll be steep monthly on release.

Probably not the right place to post this but, we had an iPhone as an upgrade and it was tied to Vodafone.
Been sat in a drawer for 8-12 months and little un just got given it for her birthday. Its locked to Vodafone and we have a CW £5 sim on HI or something.

Whats the quickest way of me getting the phone unlocked?

Probably by going to Vodafone.
Says online it can take up to 10 days. Might be quicker if you go to a store.

I've never took a phone to one of those places tbh. I've heard horror stories of people leaving phones and getting a completely different one back.
Might be a bit more honest in Bristol though.

Vodafone is normally only a day or so. They say it "can" take up to 10 days if they need to contact the manufacture.

Always better with the 2nd gen. This note can't come quick enough. Buzzing for it! The new gear VR looks very good also.

Work are currently running a 15% off deal on Samsung phones, S8+ is looking very tempting now

Evan Blass leaks. Always bang on. And a month before Samsung announce. Very impressive!

I'm approaching upgrade time and stumped between the 7 plus and s8 plus at the minute. I'm kind of bored with ios after 5 years so feeling like I want something that feels quite different but don't want to end up regretting it.

So for a good 4/5 years now I've been on a sim only deal that costs me £24 a month and bought my own phone each time.

However with the Google phones now being almost the same price as an iPhone it's actually cheaper to go on a contract with the phone included. So I'm waiting on the Pixel XL 2 I think. Then I'll make the move.

£24 on sim only? Guessing you have a lot of data with that?

Mine is £11 on EE with Unlimited texts, calls and 8GB of data.

Unlimited everything. It's an old one with 3 and I don't want to get rid of it because you can't get the same deal anymore. It's another £10 a month last time I checked. I also have the extra tethering allowance which made it more expensive too.

What's the extra tethering allowance?

I was looking at going down the route of buying outright and getting sim only and was looking at the unlimited everything 3 sim for £28/month which had 30gb tethering limit.

I've had a Huawei P10 Plus for about a month now. Came back to Android after a couple of iphones.
Really wasn't sure whether I'd like the transition back, but I'm very happy with the phone. The camera on it is immense!

Still learning little tricks, but it's a nice size, and I've fallen back into the Android routines with ease.

Got my Samsung s8+ the other day now to just sort out a sim only contract. Phone seems pretty good so far definitely like the extra freedom over iPhone but it's not as refined imo.

Took a f**king age downloading all my photos from icloud and uploading them to google drive though.

You don't have to do that in fairness. They have an app that just drags all the iCloud stuff over. Then your phone will just back itself up later to Google.

The sheer amount of customisation allowed is why I couldn't possibly return to apple.

Yeah I need the stuff up in the cloud for now though as I don't have a memory card yet and wouldn't have had the space on my phone being only 64gb. Same reason I couldn't just upload the images from my iphone straight to google photos app as the iphone reduced the quality of the pictures to take up less storage space and I wanted the images to be the full file size.

Ah cool! The Samsung evo SD cards are cheap and pair really well.

Yeah I looked at them I think the evo+ as I wanted it to be rated U3 but just ordered a sandisk extreme instead.

It's worth noting mate that Google drive won't actually reduce the file size on 99% of phone photos. The photos are only reduced if they're above 16MP. Videos above 1080p. So unless you're taking photos with a proper camera or 4K video or anything you're as well just using that option for photo backup as it's unlimited free space!
