The New Phone Thread

Reviews seem decent on G4, any first hand experience??
Yes I have one.

There is a G4 too, you want the G4 plus. It has a fingerprint reader to unlock the phone which is rather handy. Camera is a bit s**t, but you won't get a phone cheaper with a better camera.

If you want a half decent camera then I'd guess spend a bit more and get the OP3.

Cheers for the help, she only wants it for Facebook and Twitter and then normal phone use so should do the job.

Yep it's a perfect phone for anyone that doesn't want to play games and/or have a good camera on their phone. It's not terrible for taking snaps, but it's not great (in comparison to Samsung/Apple cameras)

Love the Android flexibility! New look on my Note 4...

The spacing of the icons is way to big for my liking.

My current home screen.

I've got double tap for chrome and swipe up for Flickr. Everything else sits in the app draw.

Very cool. Love the stock wallpaper. I had that for about 4 months. Like to switch mine up now and again.

I'll play with the spacing, you can adjust everything i just don't like messing too much and knackering it!

Mine.
House lighting controls at the top. Swipe up for Google search. Rest of my apps are in the drawer, and only the common ones on the home screen

Like that mate. Clean. Never got on with the Google pics album though. Wasn't quite laid out like i like.

I only changed to this wallpaper this morning. I had some architecture previously.

There was a loaf of icon packs on sale last week. I ended up getting one called lens.
This is my app draw now.

Getting pissed off with my iPhone 6.. screen just chooses when it wants to work, have to lock it then unlock it etc. Not sure if I can wait until the 8..

Never had an android but the above look budget!

The updated iOS's aren't for the likes of us, pauper, 6 users.
If you can't afford to the latest Apple products, as they drop, you may as well have a Nokia 1100

I've recently got a pixel, very happy with it so far. Never got on with iPhones (have a 6 for work and hate it) and not really into Samsungs etc. Pixel was quite pricey, but seems very good so far.

Surprised no one had posted about the S8 yet. Immense looking piece of kit. The screen is alien tech s**t! Needs a bit of icon work and some light cleaning but it looks immense!

Hoping Emma can get hers for the end of April so I can have a play! I have to stay strong and hold out for another note!

Just waiting on my cousin coming back to me (works for ee) hopefully snag myself a good deal, been waiting months for it.

It looks immense. Will have to save the pennies and buy one outright. I gave my upgrade to the Mrs due to my note 4 still going strong

Ordered one, will probably sell it on to some mug via eBay who decides they want one ASAP after they've sold out. The tech maybe impressive, but when the software updates are months behind Google, it's all a bit redundant.

I'm not into the curved screens tbh and imo they're asking to get cracked more easily if dropped with it going edge to edge.

The software stuff looks ok though.
Yeah, i was being sarcastic ;). They've pretty much reached a point where they add tinsels and sparkle every year, but very little that becomes essential. Notification handling is better than it was a few years ago, but essentially I'm using my phone in exactly the same way as 4 years ago.

This is so true.

My phone can split screen multi task, I tried it once and yes it works, but since then I have used it precisely no times at all.

Well Google own the updates so that would Kinda make sense. The big deal that every person misses is you can turn your phone into a pixel or any nexus with 3 minutes of work.

There is a reason my note runs better than most phones is I turned it in to a Nexus and yet retained all the stuff I wanted spen etc.
