The New Phone Thread

Been playing with this a few times in the last week, it really is an amazing device, I don't know if it's enough to stop me but what I can say, if it had a telephoto... I would already have it. So much more useful than the fold. My mate had the fold 7 last year and got this this year, he says it's been so much more useful! Very impressed, it's the same thickness as my s24 ultra pretty much!

Looks amazing, just a big shame about the missing camera

I still don’t get the hype for foldables. To me they are just expensive and extremely fragile gimmicks.

I can see the benefits for people flicking between their phones and tablets... but I've never had a tablet, so they don't really appeal to me. I guess I watch TV on my phone on lunch breaks at work so it would be nice then, but that's about it really? Every thing else Instagram & Twitter etc. is made for vertical scrolling aren't they.

What's the cheapest/best deals people are seeing for the new pixel?

I'm still on my the pixel 7 and fancy a change

Getting a Galaxy S25U to replace my S23U this week, be interested to see how big a difference it will be.

@imprezaworks I was going to list the S23U on avforums and tag you but couldn't find you, left the forums there?

I got myself banned on purpose. The mods on there are unbelievably (swear word)

They banned me for a month for not complying with a sales thread, long story but anyway.

Is it the one I sold you?

Whats made me laugh is how they mention within a few sentences how "because it is an iPhone, it will retain its value more than an android"

Pathetic marketing

I'm still on an iPhone 11 that I bought in China (genuine item...the phone not the country). Apart from the battery being at 71% health it's still doing everything I want it to. I'm not taking out a bank loan for a new phone.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the iPhone duo today. Very expensive though!
I still don't really get the folding phone thing overall. Even Apple themselves say they are aiming for just 5% of their iPhone sales to be the Duo. And folding phones only represent 2% of the Android market. In an IT department that I work in of 25 various infrastructure and dev roles - only one person has a folding phone. That eventually broke (the screen) and Samsung repaired it under warranty.

To me, they feel like the BMW X6 of the phone world - in that they really don't know what they are. Too big and chunky as a phone, too small as a proper useful tablet and exist in weird limbo where they are trying to tick several boxes all at once.

I caved in today an preordered an 18 Pro Max, having got £320 trade in for my 15 Pro with the usual 0% finance. I didn't even look at the Duo.
