Well not your usual new toy thread but one that should be fun. Needs a wee bit of work to be made good! but has the potential to be a weapon off road! only picture i have just now is the below one, but will add my own as i go along!! Bargin price too!!

Still waiting on all the details to come through mate, only just parted with the cash for it, and it sits up at the off Roading place, think it might be the 2.8 - it was a no brainer to take it, needs a bit off work but the wheels and tyres are worth £400 - £500 alone, it's got the leaf springs with the shock mod done i believe and the tyres are 35inch biggies

The gearbox needs sorted in it, but a spare comes with it along with a load of other spare parts!

That does look pretty cool! Where are you going to take it offroad around Edinburgh as I have a vitara (that I'm tryin to get running) and my mates got a big L200! Vitara is standard just now but once I get it running it will be getting some cheap mods done!

Had those very same tyres on my old lifted Discovery, on modular steel wheels. It would climb the fookin walls! Wasn't a fan of the hummmmmmmmmm on the road though lol

Well managed to get it back to our unit, what a balache that was, we had a car to tow a trailer, never had a trailer, got a trailer never had a car to tow it, but got there in the end! Not much done today with it, and never got a before picture, but i've whipped the seats out and cleared all the mud and the remaining shite out and in the process found a rail of Mac Tools sockets, so thats a bonus! Started taking the gearbox out today for another one to go in that came with the truck and also got it running and sounds as sweet as a nut!, But the only pic from today is the gutted inside, still need to take a wet rag over it tho!

​Well tackled it yesterday, managed to get the old gearbox/transfer box out - and the new one in, lets just say doing that was not pleasent, the amount of bolts missing in the bellhousing was crazy - so drilled out as many as we could and put new high tensile bolts and locking nuts on. Not got any pics as its changing a box, but when new one in it moved Just need to sort all the fluids out and next job are the lack of brakes.

Before i left the unit i put the drivers seat back in and moved the dodgy ignition barrel that would cut against your leg when you were seated.

Could have at least jet washed/painted it up a bit inside! Looks a fun project though. I'd make inside white and keep it immaculate, just to confuse people.

​Another little update,

Managed to to change the rear shoes & the rear centre brake hose only to discover that one of the rear wheel cylinders was shot, call to Dingbro & £23 later a new one on!!


Also managed to finish of the wiring and get the new switch panel in place and plugged in, as you will notice from the 2 pics below, went from 6 Switches down to 4

Hopefully going down at somepoint and sanding down the body for the new colour, it's only getting a rough sand down as it will be getting abused so not trying to get it perfect!

was meant to be down last night but ended up picking my mate up as he was out off roading and blew a cv in his, so picked him up and back up to his truck and new one fitted and all was good - so nothing got done on mine lol

​Another little update,

The fab work has started, well the ripping out of the rubbish that is there has started, and also the creation of the new fuel tank, yet to get pics of that but will next time i'm down - it's going to be an all day session on sat through the day & night

​So attacked the Truck today, all the gearbox/transfer box filled with oil and finally a new fuel tank on instead of a temp fix, and we took it a run around the yard - it drives and works, well no brakes yet as we still have the front axel to take off so no point just now!!

Todays work started of with cutting the terrible bumper all off and starting on the fuel tank - the tank was finished and all looking good and works properly!! Then it was a case of making 2 new chassis bits up for the back where the rotten parts where and also getting the new bumper all lined up and made, ill let all the pics do the talking, i'm just in (02.35) and been on the go at the unit since 10am, soo i may have rambled a bit.


Just to note it may not like alot has been done in that time frame but its all the fabricating that needs done and grinding etc etc that takes up the time! also the welder /fabricator is my good mate and not me lol!!

​Some more progress today, got the front axle off to sort the twisting that happens, as the leaf springs have been put on top of the axle to give more clearance, so you need to add box section on the axle to stop the axle twisting. Still needs a little bit finished off before it gets put back on.

It'll look completly different from just now colour wise! The sanding has been done and once all the work has been done, it's away getting sprayed for me at a cost of £0 all i've had to do really is sand down the body as can been seen in the pic there! the paint scheme won't last long but should look great when done!

Well what can i say, it's been a while since i have been on here - but the truck has not gone or been forgotten - but finished!! (well for the time being)


After discovering i only had rear wheel drive and not the four wheel, this was all sorted - Dam Daihatsu Boxes with all their vacuums & Solenoids! just stripped it all back and put the vacuum straight on to make it 4x4 and hey presto, the thing will go anywhere!!


As you'll see from the pics it gets used & abused like it should! only problem now is their is no hose to wash it down after a run lol.

Also need to get it to my spray booth to get it painted - not a clue what colour tho
