Fan going at literally 500RPM, think they obviously got confused as I changed the mobo and CPU cooler from the standard ones, no biggie to fix but not particularly professional and average joe wouldn’t even bother checking it as it passed all their tests but at the same time average joe wouldn’t of changed the parts…

I think most of these companies are just happy if it POSTs, that's why I always run benchmarks to check temps. I remember installing my AIO backplate upside down and only noticed because some of my cores were hotter than others. Even if I'd just checked average temps I wouldn't have spotted it because the average looked ok. Can't see a pre-built company checking stuff that thoroughly before signing it off.

A few months... but only because I ordered just as they hit a shortage and some sort of virus thing was causing issues. And they didn't have the fabric style I wanted.

Guys would appreciate your opinions on the below spec, £2300, its for my lad, only sticking points are the case, he wants that one, needs to be 3070, and Ryzen 7 5800x, everything else i am open to suggestions, case has 2 x 140mm front fans, and the cooler has 2 x 140mm so cooling shouldn't be an issue i don't think, he isn't graphics heavy really, it's all about the FPS and speeds for him, he is buying himself a new monitor which will be at least 1440p and 165hz.

Ignore the Ram, he has 32gb 3600mz in his current pc i will swap over.

I'll leave more knowledgeable types to comment on the rest of the spec, but that memory doesn't look right to me. Is that saying 1x8GB stick of memory? So it wouldn't even run in dual channel mode?

For the processor and GPU, just 8GB of memory in single channel mode seems like a massive bottleneck. I'd be going with at least 2x8GB. (I've just gone 4x8GB with the same processor myself, but that's probably overkill)

I ordered a secretlabs chair and it never came. Had to battle for refund as apparently Hermes delivered it. Of course they did. Ended up getting a Steelcase Leap instead, but it will be too rich for your blood 😂

Not sure they deliver with Hermes nowfrom what I could see🤣 The delivery options included UPS, DPD, DHL and FedEx iirc

Yes we were under that impression aswell, until we got the email saying it will be delivered by Hermes. When we questioned it they said they have to use other suppliers to keep up with demand....so don't take it for granted.

You should bin the old HDD and replace it with a sata SSD (Big volumes can be had cheaply now) and replace the sata SSd (Which will have the OS on) for an NVME one.

He may well overclock it at some point, and he currently has a 5800x so didn't want to go backwards really, i am not 100% on how the drives work, i thought you normally has SSD for windows to run etc then a hard drive for game storage?

I am a little stuck, as i am buying through Cyberpower, a 1TB SSD is £150, and a 4TB is £300?

I am using the ram from his current PC mate, and it won't let me spec with no ram, so just done with the cheapest, i thought it was best to keep the drives separate for the operating system and games?

Fair enough on the RAM. So long as you've got at least two matched sticks you should be fine.

As for the drives, I don't think separating content provides any benefit and you want both the OS and the games on the fastest possible device.

Only time I'd want a separate drive is for huge content where storage costs become stupid on SSD (e.g. 10TB of films and TV is better on a spinning platter than it is on an SSD for cost, and probably better outside the PC on a NAS of some kind).

I'm just running a single SN850 1TB for my OS and games and it flies.

Yes he has 32gb 3600mhz now, so they will go in the new one, maybe something to consider then, ditch the SSD and just get a 2TB M2...

New Intel processor reviews are up. Team blue are back on top of their game apparently. Great to see proper competition and innovation from both sides again.

I wonder if people will actually be able to buy them 🤔

The testing I've seen was using Windows 10, however they did hint that the upcoming review using Windows 11 was very very close in performance. DDR5 will have made some difference, but only in applications that are very memory intensive. The main improvement seems to be in architecture and power consumption, it uses as much power as an overclocked 5950X, but beats it in most tests despite having fewer cores and threads
