not sure on the chasis, i wanted to know that too. i know it isnt going to be easy, i just really want a project to do. my mate has done a project on his corsa and i love the sound of everything.
Nope chassic are the same.
It is drag and drop though however its like saying a heart and brain tranplants in a human is just a cut and drop.

listen from me matey im already 8 miles down the road your going, it takes money and alot of time and effort nothing is EVER straight forward a 3 hour job always takes 6.
people think yea good effort but dont realise how much effort it actualy takes, your best off doing everything togther engine,suspension and brakes this will also save time and money, you WILL run into problems it always happens, ive torn through 2 OS cv boots and thats just the start.
as per performance so far ive dropped the 2.0 in ive had

just add them up and your talking ££££ not taking into account everything else, it cost me £300 to get the car towed around when it was all in but not running! back up money soon deplete's
the best bit for me is the knowledge i've gained and the people and experiences ive had doing all the work which is better then every dime thats gone on it, yes i could have bought a 172 cheaper but my car isnt a 172 its MY car end of, so listen to both your heart and your head before going down the road.
There enough hybrids out there not its not that unique.
Unique is unsing another engine altogether.

nice car but honestly dont bother with expensive things like 4 pots and the conversion. U will never see your money back. Might as well save the money u where gunna use for the conversion and get a 172/182. Im talking from experience!!!

Coool, would love to put a 2.0litre engine in my car, but dont have the knowledge of taking out and putting in engines, lots of work involved. Once its all done, wouldnt it have been cheaper to buy a cup or a MkI 172 ?

Lol, I haven't read the whole thread but its a stupid idea, the amount its going to cost all in you could probably get a mint 172FF with warranty from a dealer, with xenons, RS interior etc that this hybrid won't have, more hassle than its worth.
I think you mean 182, if you could get a 197 for £5k I would be straight on it.
I reckon a hybrid would be more expensive to insure than a 172, its also worth noting that a Dynam with a 2.0 lump is not worth the same used as a 172ff, so despite it having cost you more than a 172 to get it finished its worth substantially less secondhand.
regardless of what people say, i am going to do this conversion over the next year. i know i will never make my money back but then again, if i bought a new car now, i would be keeping it for quite a while as i have other things to pay for and care about like my girlfriend, holidays etc i would never make any money back on it either. i want to do it for the experience and see how it turns out. yea i could go and buy a used 172 with all the extras but then what...id be bored. i want to do this as a project, bit of fun ya know. but each to their own, if you think its a stupid idea dont do it, but im going to.

look at post 65 mate. i know you have got a really valid point but its just something i wanna try. id love a 172 or 182 but i want to give this a go.

you will end up paying out more then what you would just going getting a 172 BUT you wont pay more insurance me on a 172 currently is £1600 but with the hybrid through adrian flux EVERYTHING on the policy costs me £850 why??? i have no idea
now we go onto tax, how much do 172 n 182 owners pay? well i pay £100 for 12 months and yes EVERYTHING is on the log book for those who dont believe i'll bring paperwork to fcs so you can all gleg how this one works out again i dont know but the dvla wont charge me anymore after argeuing for 2 hours saying it has to cost more
so im saving £750 on insurance and whatever on tax add it up over the years i'll scrape a little back
