The reason my 182 keeps breaking down? Pic

Car  K20 EG Hatch
Well over the last week it has been in and out of renault three times. It keeps breaking down and then when it restarts seems to be running on two/three cylinders, loadsa unburnt fuel in exhaust. I can leave it for an hour, restart it and then it fine again for a bit.
Renault have changed the mass air flow sensor/meter and then this has been the best fix but this only lasted an hour!

AA come out last night when i broke down and pulled this part out:

They said the seal on it is slightly damaged and it is really easy to pull push out the engine block and this is the reason its giving me all these problems (or so he said anyway). He put some tape around it to make it a tight fit and it was fine for the journey home and fine this morning but i cant help thinking it's gonna last.

Opinions please ppl?

That it back to Renault and explain to the them what the AA has done and get them to replace the part under warranty.

Did you get a report/description for the AA saying whats wrong, that you could give to Renault?

Yeah they give me a description thing that i will take in. Im gonna see if his bodge repair sorts it and if its fine over the weekend i will take it back monday and explain to renault how they should have fixed it lmao.
Can anyone else check there 172/182 and see if this thing is loose on theres please?

If renault replaced the MAP sensor then that SHOULD of solved your problems seeing the bit the aa man put tape around is the part they changed......supposedly.

Ahh, thanks. Well by the look of it they have replaced the upper part of it but the part that actually fits into the engine is still the original (and this pretty much must be where the problem is). Any idea how much they are? May just buy one and do it myself now! Fuckin renault monkeys.

that's the flywheel sensor I think. It's an identical sensor as they replaced in my 182. Mine didn't start the first time in the morning. The second time he did fine

Its the air pressure sensor that push fits into the inlet manifold - changed loads in the past. Part number is 8200121800 £85.00 + vat new.

thanks matt black, im not paying that though lol if its still under warranty. In your experience does it sound like this could be the problem? I mean if you have changed others were they giving the same problems as mine.

Is it part number 2 on that diagram matt? If so I have one here that i got when i bought my spare plenum.

Dan you can have it cheaper than renault if you want....

Yeah it is part 2 Dave. To be honest my cars an 04 under warranty so there is no way im gonna pay anywhere near that. If it was £10 then yeah but not £85, especially what it is! How can they warrant that being £85 lol.
I will just wait till monday and take it back in and be without it again till the part comes in :(

Cheers

 Crap!

Mine's started doing this the last couple of weeks. Gives up and stalls on the first start up - 2nd spin of the ignition works everytime.

Bloody headlamp washer has started leaking too. I think I'm slowly making my way through the "KNOWN 182 PROBLEMS CHECKLIST". ;)

D.

u got to love the rac/aa. they deserve a medal sometimes. just when u think ur on ur arse and ur cars dead they do some magic and its up and runnin again (if only temporarily but at least u can get home)
