you're such a fanboy!
anyway, i couldn't give a flying f**k about those features, who listens to mp3s on their games console?
I'll say it again, its a games console, it plays games, and as long as it does that well, then I'm happy, its also a bluray player, and it will do that well too.
The only reason people want DLNA is to stream illegally downloaded tv shows and films to it, there are other ways but i can see why sony don't want to add that feature again, it might get added post launch though. And i can't see you needing an external hard drive either, theres 500gb onboard, which can be upgraded to a bigger one if required anyway.
i really can't see what the problem is, most people want it to play games and blurays on, and arguably it might be the best at doing that, we'll have to see, but thats what I'm buying it for.

Is it?The irony is so strong lol.

I stick my EHD into my xbox to watch films n stuff so it would be a sticking point for me.
you don't like me calling you a fanboy do you.
I'd like to stick my EHD into you.
You can't go wrong with either console to be honest mate; the upscaling on the X1 works pretty well. There's not actually a massive difference once playing and engrossed in the game. If you are not getting both I would simply go for the one that is likely to have the more games you are interested in playing. My personal preference is for the X1 but I'll also be getting a PS4 because I'm also a fan of PlayStation. I expect the X1 will get used more though.Anyone ordered the X1, but considering the PS4 instead?
I'm torn, 60/40 favouring the X1, but the lower CoD and BF res concerns me.
I'm tempted to get both at launch just to compare at home, then sell one.

Infinity Ward executive producer Mark Rubin has moved to explain the resolution difference between the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Call of Duty Ghosts.
Having said last week that the Xbox One version of the shooter will run natively at 720p, while the PS4 version will run at 1080p, Rubin told Eurogamer that the difference was due to resource allocation issues faced by Infinity Ward's engineers.
"There's stuff in the console's OS that interacts with the game," he explained. "So, for instance, voice chat is often supported by the hardware manufacturer rather than the software, and you're just using their channel. When that stuff is changing - because they're developing it on their side - and the resources they're using are changing - your, from a game design standpoint, challenge is with trying to make enough room for those resources to be used but at the same time use as much resources as possible.
"One of the greatest challenges the engineers have to deal with is memory management, or thread management. There are X number of threads in your CPUs. Where in those threads is the stuff that's Microsoft or Sony? Where does it fall? How does it work? We don't have the SDKs for those features yet, and then they come in and you go, okay, well it needs 3MB of RAM - oh, crap, we only allocated two! You can't just take a MB from anywhere. It's not like there's just tonnes of it just laying there. You have to pull it from something else. And now you have to balance that somewhere."
In the case of Ghosts, Rubin said: "There's no specific, oh, well, the VO chat on Xbox took up so much resources that we couldn't do 1080p native. There's no definitive one to one per se cause and effect. It's just an overall thing. We took each system individually and said, 'okay, let's make the best game for each system.'
"I think both look great. Some people might notice if they had them right next to each other. Some people might not. The Xbox One is 1080p output, it's just upscaled hardware wise. It was a late decision, too. That call wasn't made until a month ago."
Rubin also told Edge that it would be wrong to suggest Ghosts is confirmation that Xbox One is a weaker console than PS4.
"It's a much more complex answer - there's so much to it, it's a balancing act when you get into optimisation - we need more time with it all, basically," he said. "It could be years from now until we get to the point where we feel like we've maxed out what we can do on both platforms.
"We might get more resources back at one point. And that could make things change dramatically for the Xbox One, for instance. It's a long complicated road that will take years to develop, and I think at the end we'll have games looking very similar, usually, on both systems.
"This is the first game on the console and there's a lot for us to learn with the new hardware so it's a long-running process - you compare COD 2 to COD 4 it's a massive leap forward in graphical fidelity. So I think we expect the same thing on both platforms."
nope due to having massive hands i don't get on with the PS controller + there is a good chance that halo will not come out on the PS4
Xbox one controller is amazing, so easy to hold. Rumble triggers are a bit strong, but there's probably a setting somewhere to change them.
It's funny, because I read that as the ps4 version is better, it's easier to develop for this time around, at this point in time, and in time, possibly years we will or may be able to utilise the xbox resources fully. It's not the developers fault though, it's the consoles, there's always been a memory issue with the xbox, it was all hearsay, but the game specs are now proof that this was the case.Do not let the resolutions put you off mate, at all.
It's not the console that is restricting, it's the games developer. For example, re: COD Ghosts:
Anyone else had the email from GAME asking for payment for the Xbox ONE?
i play my xbox more too, but I'm going to have to buy both again to get all the games i want, which is an arse. But if the multi platform games are going to be better on the PS4 then thats the machine i'll be buying them on, now ps online is paid for too, the gap will be closing with online play. It'll just come down to which mates have which consoles, but then I'm more of a single player person anyway as i don't get a lot of time to play games so I'm lucky to make it through the single player campaign these days.I've just pre-paid for my XBoxOne with Shopto this morning (XBO with BF4, Fifa 14 and XBL membership bonus)
£490 gone.
It's not just about the one console being more powerful than the other David, as you know. Of course, it would be nice, but there are so many other factors - the social arena is my main reason. Most of my friends are on XB360, and are seeing the XBO as a natural progression. I have a 360 and a PS3 but use the 360 primarily for gaming with friends whereas the PS3 is for media.
Now the XBO has everything I need. If I can have as much fun on the XBO online and offline as I have with the 360 for the last x number of years, then I'll be very happy.
I'll still get a PS4 but not on launch.

it impressed you more than GTA V?Yeah I'll definitely get the PS4 too, but not on launch. Games series like Uncharted should be absolutely incredible on Next Gen. Hell, Skyrim was the surprise game for me on current gen, the scope and size of it was just crazy. Multiply that by 10 and in the next couple of years we should see some really brilliant stuff on both consoles.
my must haves have been put back until the springIs there a list of Launch games yet? What are peoples 'Must haves'?
it impressed you more than GTA V?
I think i might do the same and just get a One, the only PS4 exclusive i wanted at launch was that racing game thats been put back until the spring anyway.
