Another question. s**t Xbox. I think I made a royal f**k up setting up her new One the other day. So she could have it for xmas I did the setup and downloaded the games using my gamer tag. It now tells her she also needs to sign in as me to play the games she got when signing in as her.

Have i messed up or is there any way of sorting this out?

Dude. Calm down. - let me work my magic!

Firstly - I am assuming the games you downloaded and installed were digital downloads. So you have redeemed codes etc. Do not worry!

Now, on her Xbox, sign in as YOU.

Go to Settings.
Personalisation (on the left hand menu)
Then click on "My Home Xbox".

Then "Set this as my home Xbox".

Now you can SIGN OUT of YOUR gamer tag.

She will now be able to sign in as HERSELF and play all the games that you have accidentally associated with your own gamer tag without ever signing in as you!

Also - if YOU have Xbox live gold, she now has it by default because you have set her Xbox as YOUR "home Xbox".

Now on your own Xbox - sign in as her, set your Xbox as her "home Xbox" and now you can play any games associated with her account - and continue to use your Xbox live gold as normal.

There - done! Simple! You now both have access to both accounts games without having to log in to one another's account: ever!

Now go thank Microsoft for the best damn feature ever: "Family Share".

Also - I'm guessing you have an Xbox One S - it does not have a Kinect port like the original Xbox one. Microsoft have made this very clear! Simply go to Xbox.com and request a free adapter.


I hope this helps calm you down.

Now remember, if she buys a game digitally, you automatically have access to it on your own Xbox, and vice Versa. You also only need ONE gold account between you!

The adaptor should be free mate, on the Xbox website. You need the serial number for the Xbox and the Kinect.

Anyone (Deekay!?) able to help with some issues I'm having with the Xbox app on my iPhone? For the past couple of weeks, the app loads as usual - I can see my friends list, usual home screen etc but my messages wont load (it just keeps loading but they never appear).

I can see my messages on the console and if I use Destiny LFG then I can send a message through that. I also don't get notifications pop up when I receive a message any more either, so unless I'm on my console when I receive a message, I have been missing them.

I was going to delete and reinstall the app to see if that works but otherwise out of ideas..

Not seen this issue before - delete the app, reinstall and then check that notifications for the app are turned on. Hope this helps!!

Really odd! Maybe it's a glitch and just need Microsoft to release a patch? I'll let you know if I find anything.

I effectively worked for them on a (short) contractual basis many years ago but spent the best part of a decade working closely with them on PC and Xbox game / hardware development. I was a programmer writing / specialising in 3D graphics technology and high-performance computing. I still have contacts in Microsoft; some of them love their job, others not so. One of my friends is a 'tech evangelist' and spends most of his time living out a suitcase and presenting lectures and seminars about Microsoft tech. He gets to see different places and meet many folks, but the pay isn't great for the time he's away from his fiancé and young daughter. Another guy I worked with is now in a senior role at Microsoft UK. He's very happy and done well for himself. He's not shy of a few bob, either!

I currently work for BT (been there over 11 years now) but I have always wanted to work for Microsoft. I know where you're coming from when you say some people aren't happy with heir jobs etc, however it really has always been a dream of mine to work at Microsoft lol!

If you know anyone who can recruit in to Microsoft do let me know, I'd be interested if they can match/exceed my current wage. Would be amazing!!

I can certainly ask mate, but I cannot guarantee anything unfortunately! Might be worth you dropping a speculative letter / email to Microsoft Studios (Soho Productions) as they were trying to get me in for some work recently. A recent merger with Lift means they have some pretty funky projects going on...

My old job? Yeah - loved it mate. I was making computer games basically, albeit working on the tech / engine side rather than the game specific stuff I'd love to go back one day but - as said - some things aren't always as glamorous as they seem! The pay wasn't always great, the hours were loooooooong and the work challenging (which I didn't have an issue with!) I was / am lucky to be able to continue doing this sort of thing now even though I'm self-employed (and not in the games industry).

Ended up going for 3 months in the hope that the deals will be back soon.

To be fair she said I can get them - the main issue is that my game's room has been earmarked as a future child's bedroom. So it's a tough decision but I'm getting the snip

TBF on Battlefield 4 online. With my old Xbox, if using a sniper zoomed in, I'd lose load of colours and textures. Now on the S its fine.

So its either processing better, or my old Xbox was fucked.
