Think got Faulty Coil Pack! Just checking symptoms

Hi all, New to the Forum thing and new to Clio's, Got a 172 on a 52 plate, dont know if tampered with in any way also. Symptoms are: When i boot it foot flat down i have to change at around the 5,000 rev mark in each gear and car tops out at 110mph.
However if i gently press the go pedal, hardly even touching it I can go all the way in the revs until I put my foot down harder and then she kangaroos and then have to change gear!!
Performance wise she feels quick off the mark but think would go quicker if i could keep my foot flat down.
Any ideas anyone?

cat? exhaust problems? sounds something fuel/air related to me

Its a strange problem but has been on a diagnostic thingy and nothing showing up as faulty! Still under warranty and had to take Mechanic out and prove something wrong cos they think its running sweet. Finally agreed something wrong! but got to wait to book her in.

Had this the other day

In my case it turned out to be water in the coil packs, which was all easily sorted by blasting the water out with an air compressor at a local garage

I was told that normally it's probably the coils going wrong, especially if they have the grey tops to them. Apparently the black top ones last for ages though.

Sounds like it could be a faulty coil to me. I had two go at once a while back, now I have another one playing up a tad. When it's behaving she runs really well, but when the coil decides to play up the tick over is a tad lumpy and noisey (sounds abit like a black cab) and when you try and boot her she isn't happy about it at all, infact she can be darn right sluggish.

I was also told about the grey top coils being crap!

Fingers crossed that is the problem, just got to wait for garage to phone and book her in. Whats the best way to find out if there has been any engine mods done to her? Friend has the same car but reckons mine pulls away much quicker and harder than his, but then at the mo I have to change gear at 5,000 revs- doh!
