Thinking about selling the 172...

This is 'Clio Discussion' in as much as I'm thinking about selling!

Basically, I just think it's costing me too much to run and maintain it, and it's money which would be better spent towards a new kitchen, bathroom, etc in the house. Insurance is the best part of £700-800 a year, tank of petrol a week at the moment, expensive tax, various maintenance costs and god knows what it'll need for the MOT next month. I still love driving it, but I just don't feel like I'm getting my money's worth in enjoyment, as it's all town or motorway driving recently.

I'm thinking VAG Diesel - but would people go for Golf GTTDi, A3 TDi, A3 1.8T (expensive petrol costs?) or Ibiza TDi (or whatever Seat do)?

Or any alternatives?

I'll have changed my mind next week, once she's serviced and running sweet again.

My trophy is one of the cheapest cars to run i have owned.

Scooby, now they are costly.

Apart from my insurance (which id coming down quite nicely now), this car is cheap as chips to run.

Suppose it's all relative. I just feel like I'm spending money on things like insurance and petrol that would be better saved for essentials.

Petrol wise, it is really cheap to run. I always get 350+ to a tank.

Plus tyres and brakes are relatively cheap.

But I agree with maintaining it, there is always something wrong with these cars.

find a job with a company car .... it's the way forward ...

i'g prob get a golf tdi 150. my mum had one and nothing ever went wrong with it. (had it from new and for 5years, did 60k in those years) hope this helps

Lol, yep... I'll change my mind in a week or so, it's just so depressing seeing all the little dings, dents and scratches that it picks up whilst it's parked on the side of the road.

I'm pretty certain about putting it back to standard, so I'll see if the new image reignites some of my love for it...

I think the 182 is extremely cheap to run. Just the insurance that's quite costly, but nothing major. I guess once it comes out of warranty period though it could add up a bit if things go wrong...
