Thinking of fitting a turbo.. Advice please

  Astra (H) VXR
So quick run down

My mates got a couple of good condition turbos off his Toyota supra twin turbo engine and suggested he would give me one if I wanted to turbo the 172...

Just after some quick advice as to what I need to buy to do this..

I'm going to upgrade in April next year to a 200 so just wanted to have a play with the car as I'm not overly bothered about it as its not worth a great deal so would be a bit of fun..

Any past experiences?

Do I need to change the ecu?

All help appreciated

Thanks

If your getting rid of the car mate, dont bother.

Just save the money for an r26 conversion on the 200!

I was thinking of maybe keeping it as toy.. If I get a 200 I will probably just keep it standard as I think they look great as they are..

If thats the case, strip it out completely and put a set of decent coilovers on it. Then give it death!

Hahaha yea... I really want to turbo it as well though... Owned one turbo car in the past and want another but not as a daily full time..

Custom boost pipes would be needed, an there is an off the shelf forge intercooler which fits. Need to look up which one though!

Cool... Off the top of your head based on all the work being done by my mate for beers and fun.. How much would I have to spend? And can you run the standard ecu?

If you want a turbo car, why not buy one with a turbo and have fun with that? Makes more sense to me, sell the 182, pickup a 200 and buy something Jap.

But for gods sake whatever you do, don't buy a car from your granparents and then paint your steels "split rim" style.

To be honest I just fancy having some fun with this one.. Love the car but I don't feel it's worth selling for the 200, and would like to maybe learn a bit more about them and just do something different than how I would normally modify a car..

Hi Andy, Just to let you know the intercooler Josh is on about is a Forge Type 07 Universal Intercooler.. The same one that I have bought for my car..
