This just fell off my 182? Any ideas?

Can't see how it'd just 'fall off' without the rest of the wheel coming with it.

Looks to me like a wheel bearing outer casing. If so your shell should have fallen off

hmm, Ok should I be worried about driving it? Drove fine afterwards for a couple of miles? Getting booked in to a renault specialist but they are an hour away now I am worried I should be getting it towed there?

Have a look around the pulley area, it should be pretty noticeable if it is that.

If you are unsure where it came from, I would advise not to drive it, as if from the aux pulley the aux belt could come off and take out the cam belt

IIRC the top aux tensioner is plastic not metal so could be the lower one.

Is your battery light on?
If it is your belt then there will be no power steering, no water pump, no alternator.

since I bought the car a couple of weeks ago the steering has been heavy. also doesnt start straight away. No idea about water pump.

Now just have to work out how to get it to the garage?

Just get it recovered to the garage, AA and the like have options for home cover or get someone with a trailer/van.

If it's just a problem with the idler any half decent garage should be able to replace it?

Yeah could do....got a fair amount of other stuff I want looking into and a general once over so was going to get it over to two techs in dartford at somepoint anyway

Have you lifted the bonnet yet to see if the auxilery belt is still there?

could be aux belt idler but would of made hell of a racket when it came off though.

there were some slightly funny noises in the run up to it coming off, then hit a bump and it came off. car then drove fine. Havent been able to get underneath but had my fingers crossed it was an exhaust related piece but cant see how it would be.

Definitely not a wheel bearing outer race as it doesn't have the bevel on the inside for the 2 inner races to seat against.

Are you sure it fell from your car?😂

Lift your bonnet and see if you auxilery belt is still there.
Its definitely the outer casing of a bearing it's just which one

It was warm but otherwise yeah I guess I am not sure as car drove just fine after.

could it be gearbox related? Thinking about it, it had just jumped out of first into neutral after some over eager driving? (still getting to know the car).

I think these guys are right. If you look at your very 1st post of the 3 pictures.
The 3rd picture where you stood the item up you can clearly see most of the outer surface is worn except that top edge like 4mm of it is still untouched
