to cut or not to cut??? help

  172 ph1
Right ive booked the car in for something to do be exhaust wise but its basically gona be 2.5" stainless tip out the back so....question is after a drunken argument last night with the old man, do i get the bumper slighty cut to fit or do i have it just underneath? as he thinks it will spoil the car originality which im in two minds wether to be changing alot of things in the new year or to leave it standrd bar some bolt ons....?

would have to see some pics of the car really, I personally think the 172s look best with a single 182 exhaust surrond cut into the bumper

stealth or cut with a 182 surround. Your old man will change his mind if you make a nice job of it using oem parts (the 182 surround).

I personally think that something like a y0z race system, sat underneath a ph2 rear bumper looks awesome.

Cut outs in ph1 bumpers don't look awesome.

i think it looks cheap and nasty with them hanging down under the bumper

that silver one looks lush but it wouldnt be cut as much as thatim only talking about an inch or so....what exhaust is that on the silver ph1 by the way?

id either be going for same as gez the race look or 2.5" rolled tip! im gona go to the exhaust place and pace a tip underneath to see what it would look like

the LY with a hanging down exhaust still looks cheap. Would have been 100x better if it was cut up into the bumper.

custom system. 2.5" decat back, straight through to the back box (no silencers) 2.5" cut tail pipe.
Its the same design as the omp exhaust, but with a bigger back box.

have a look at my project thread mate, plenty of pics of the exhaust from behind. Go for a 2.5" bore underneath the car though, and then obviously what ever tail pipe you want.

Middo's would have looked better recessed into the bumper. He even admitted it.

You can't do that with those yoz systems on the ph1 though as you can't get it high enough (knocks on the rear beam or something)

its just i cant decide if i should cut the bumper or not....does anyone thinkit will effect the car when i coem to sell it? plus i wouldnt mind if i ever had the chance to represent the ph1 in a show etc as a standard ph1 it would let it down!

it shouldn't affect the resale of the car at all, its not as if they demand loads of money either.
Are you keep everything original? not lowering it ect. Because if you want an original example, then i'd have a stealth exhaust. To keep with the rest of the car.

i think middos looks perfect, but whether you cut the bumper or not depends what exhaust you go for I suppose.
With regards to resale, it just depends whether what you end up doing is to everyone else's taste

I have a Ktec stealth which is still visable under the bumper.. kinda its so dirty you can't really notice it anymore though, still shocking mind you as it litrally wont go any higher.

cut the bumper or fit a stealth, looks like an after thought when they protrude underneath.

and how much would a back box like that cost fred?

it has a ktec stealth on now anyway so...i duno cos if i do lower it then thats the originality out the window anyways isnt it
