To prove my g/f auntie wrong, what will win...

  CLS, RS MEG
She wants to show me up in her 2002 02 Reg Saab 9-3 2.0 Turbo Eco convertible. I have a 172 phase 2. I know the new saabs are quick but this is the older shape, which i'm not to clued up on.

??

She either has the 154bhp model or the 185bhp model, as the HOT Turbo is the Aero.

I would have thought you will do well either way chap, Saab's are heavy cars .

According to letstorquebhp.com

Saab 9-3 2.0 Aero
BHP: 205
BHP / Ton: 153
0-60: 7.02
0-100: 18.9

Clio 172 FF
BHP: 170
BHP / Ton: 155
0-60: 6.96
0-100: 18.52

If these stats are correct, it's going to be down to your starts.

Either way, tell her before you 'try it on' that her car is 205bhp, and your's is 170bhp :D

I had a 250bhp HOT model, and from 60mph upto about 140, i doubt anything could keep up. it was insane.

0-60 was poor though. You either end up in a cloud of wheelspin, or you bog down. Walk in the park for you mate. :)

you will beat it no dobt. the drop tops weigh loads.

i had a 2003 sport saloon aero for my last car. theyre a little different to the old sheds. with a remap on board it was pokey. once the power is down (mid second gear) it would pull all the way to the end. surprised loads of people the older ones suck and if you come across the newer shape one with an exhaust at each side. they are 2.8v6 turbo iirc.

Do you not remember the episode of topgear when JC took one out..........

The acceleration in 2nd in the aero from 20-70 is quicker then a 911 turbo ! and that is without turbo lag from the 911.

My opinion - aero will win ( providing it aint the slower 2.0t model ).

sorry for the reallly stupid question but im baffled:

i thought tat the higher the BHP the faster the 0-60 and the car etc...so why has the Saab got a higher BHP but the Clio is faster...is it due to the weight of the car or something?

sorry again

Exactly that.

Yes, but that was the 2.3HOT Aero, not the 2.0 the op is talking about.
