too much engine oil??

Need to have the oil changed in a couple of days and what i was wondering is what happens if you put too much oil in??

almost as bad as not putting enough in

just do it bit by bit and let it settle for 2min

ok, haynes says 3.0 litres and i've got a 5 litre bottle here, will do it step by step

Yeah don't over fill it, like others have said it's not healthy. At minimum it will cause damage to a seal or gasket when it tries to escape.
