too much oil?

kic

Car  former 1.2 16v, now corsa
stupidly lastnight overfilled goes past the max mark by about 5mm, bit the bullet and ran it, no oil leaks this morning, iam i out the sh1t?:(

Overfilling is just as bad as underfilling, drain some out of the sump or else your engine will go boom! haha

well maybe not so dramatic but it will increase pressure and the crank/rods will be slapping into the oil in the sump and this can damage the engine.

its about 5mm above the MAX notch, think it was about 350 - 400ml too much,

It will be a bit tricky but if your that worried let a bit trickle out the sump if you can. To be honest if you put in the exact amounts that renault advise it always seems to go just above the max line.

No help to you

Just to lighten thing up & at least you didnt do this.

My mate-a solicitor, his oil light came on-2 year old octavia - so goes to the garage & buys a litre of oil.
Open up the bonnet, finds the oil cap & pours in the oil - didnt look like it filled it up so went straight back in and bought another litre - did this one more time!

Thought it was enough when it was full to the top.

Only got a few miles down the road - major damage - through engine & exhaust sysstem

nickname now "dipstick"
