too much oil

what happens if you over fill your engine oil? does it just get burnt off or do you need to drain some out

iirc, too much oil can seriously damage the engine and blow the seals because of the very high oil pressure.

baisically if there is too much oil in the engine the big ends will slap of the oil, this will cause extra engine strain and cause long term damage if not totally feck it!!!

As already said, drain the excess out.

it entirely depends how much extra is in there. I routinely overfill my 205 at the moment because the stem seals are shagged and it's burning oil, more than about half a litre extra would be highly likely to give excessively high pressure and start breaching seals.

all sorted now so panic over. quite chuffed accually as ive managed to sort a few problems i was having with it out so no more rattling from the exhaust or heat shield, the oil is also now sorted and ive sorted out my wobly back box that was also rattling like mad, it sounds quite nice again now and seem smoother too.
