Took my Clio and Ferrari out to the Nurburgring this weekend

Great fun. Lots more pics to follow as bought some from Frozenspeed.

Clio was set up by Mark Fish motorsport for the trip and was simply incredible! didnt skip a beat and got HAMMERED around the track by lots of different drivers all weekend! Brilliant little car and very quick around the track as well. I got it down to 8.48 on one lap. Will post video later

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 8 minutes 48 seconds sounds like a pretty good time in a Clio! Well done regardless.

Sadly he did. It was very even through bends and we played for half a lap. As soon as there was long straight though. It easily outdragged me.

Clio was AMAZING through bends. The set up from Mark Fish revolutionised it. It had ALOT more front end grip than the Ferrari and I almost binned in into the wall because I kept going into one corner to fast in it and scrubbing wide... where as Clio would just turn in and hang on!!!! mainly due to the much better tyres (R888's)

8.48 was a bit silly really. I was on right on the edge of my talent in a few places.... and thats NOT how to drive the Ring in my opinion....

I got bit carried away! I wont be going that quickly again!
I have the lap recorded on an AIM smartycam with GPS speeds and G forces on it. I will post it up later if people are interested?

Think I am gonna go back out this weekend as well. I love it over there.

need a new front left.... hit a polehole in Belgium

Tore hole in both sidewalls. Tyres was brand new as well.... wounder!

another bonus of ferrari ownership... you can park in all the all the best spots and that means less walking to your hotel room! which is good when you are as lazy as me!

What mods have you had made to the clio?

Nothing Serious. It has wilwood four pots on front with some hot brake pads all round.

Engine is std apart from matched inlet things and a remap. Has sportcat and Yozza exhaust.

It has AST coilovers but the main reason why it goes so well is the setup from Mark Fish. He really sorted all the Geometry and modded little bits here and there and totally changed all the Spring rates, the rears are now VERY stiff. It used to squirm all over the road under power and wallow about. It now handles amazingly on track. I run R888's on Speedline 2118 wheels.

oh and Mark also fitted a full safety devices rollcage for me.

I did buy some ubercool Cobra Carbon Technology seats but they didnt arrive in time for trip... and now I am thinking of just leaving the standard ones in as they were totally fine!

What was the Lindner like?

I like it alot. I always stay there when I am over there now. Its nice and new and clean and cool inside. The Casino is ok if you like that sort of thing and the in room movies are very good 27 HD p**n films! lol

has gym and spa as well.

They have the winning car from the Nurburgring 24hour race sitting it the Lobby just before the restaurant. Its cooooool. I had good look around it and a sit in it. Was mostly Carbon not metal! the doors were soooooo light!
