Took my Clio and Ferrari out to the Nurburgring this weekend

Its been fun digging out the piccys from over the years and bought back some great memories. Loads more I could post but don't wanna look like a t**t. So I will just continue to post stuff I have done that is relevant to thread and things people post.

This site has an AWESOME vibe. People are really friendly and obviously PROPER petrolheads and great people who are happy for others. Hope to meet some of you soon. The more friends you have in life the better if you ask me!

Exactly roll cages are HARD and designed not to move. Hitting one with your head is not ideal! (Thats kinda why I will never know how I survived that 140mph roll in the Escort with no belts on... guess it wasnt my time to die?)

also I thought if I wear a helmet in the Ferrari it will just encourage me to push harder than I should in a car thats expensive to repair AND or hurt someone else and get lumbered with HUGE claim against me. My Ferrari insurance doesnt cover me at Ring. So I made conscious effort to dry at say 7/10ths rather than 9/10ths like I was in the Clio.

I will admit that plan kinda went out the window a bit... I was going ALOT faster in the Ferrari than I planned to. I got carried away and excited AND if I really admit it... I liked showing off to the crowds and photographers... Also the Porsche and Bmw boys all LOVE to overtake Ferraris... and alot of Ferrari owners just pottle around.... so I kinda wanted to show them that some of us like to push them and not just pose!!!!

Talking of Ferraris... I was luck enough to be at the Nurburgring in April on a trackday when the 599xx did the ridiculous sub 7min lap times. It was AMAZING and a privileage to be on track at same. I have some great video footage of it. I also managed to grab this crap pic in car.

ALOT closer than you think!!!

Ferrari on normal road tyres (and a VERY shonky part warn left front!) ... so not that fair to compare.

But I would say for 75% of the lap the Clio is faster. The front end grip and turn in was INCREDIBLE!

I almost stuck the Ferrari into the wall a few times where it just pushed on and Clio was biting in!

There are 2 places on ring though that are ALL about horsepower. BIG long straights.... Hence the ferrari is faster. Take them out and it would be SOOO close!

Funny thing was I found i was going faster on the way to the ring than around it, i touched 130 ish in some places but thats bloody fast when your 6ft from a large amount of very big trees!!

i don't know Andy, know a guy called David Brown, youngish guy about 23 maybe, used to race Formula Fords, now into the Rally scene with a 205 gti.

Its got alot of bits you can spin out at if you lift off or stop paying attention due to the change of camber in the road.

i really enjoyed it and booked up for one at the end of July.

She is HUGE petrol head. Great driver of any car. Seriously quick on track in the Sierra. Did a Datron timed sub 4 sec 0-60 and over 180mph at Brunters in the 911. Also rides Superbikes. she had a proper race tuned R1 few years back.

he sold it to a girl called Helen.. she asked me to show her the lines around Bedford at a trackday few months ago. I LOVED the car! tried to buy it off her at end of day I loved it so much. one month later it was mine!

I sound like such an Essex chav in this vid! mainly because I am!

it starts boring but its actually quite entertaining at the end! at 7.40 ish on clock there is almost a wicked 3 car overtake! sadly the Focus had some SERIOUS turbocharged POWER!
