I disagree.
The Cup chasis is the one you want.
I knew as soon as I saw a 197 that I would have one, but I also knew that I would wait until they had bettered it with the Cup chasis.
I am in no way mocking ff 197 owners - I too have been one of those annoyed after buying a car only for Renault to bring out a better variant within 6 weeks of ownership.
One day Renault will release the car everyone wants straight away instead of annoying owners of the original with special editions and cup chasis'.
I also disagree about the overall package of a 172/182 being better, but then again all current 172/182 owners will say that won't they. It is after all car owner prerogative - mine is best.
The 197 is far better looking, better built and just as quick.
Hopefully will be better in the reliability stakes and is far safer.
Okay it's not that econmical, but it's a hot hatch - if you want economy get a diesel Golf!
I loved my 172, but the 197 is evolution and a far better prospect in all departments.
