torco sr-1 synthetic motor oil. please have a read.

i have mentioned this in the for sale section about 4 months ago of which little intrest came of it so here it goes again.
just asking you guys to have a look at the link above which covers a basic outline on this oil. The reports which i have read on it, been told by its european importer (nimbusmotorsport.com) and heard about its popularity in the states, especially the california 'jap import market', all set the stand for great prospects and popularity of this unfamiliar oil in the uk.
i'm no oil wiz and am just bringing it to your awarness as was shown the product and given enough to run in my ph1 172. it made my car run alot smoother and feels more responsive but before you all bite my head off i know this is often the case when an oil change is carried out.
torco as a motor oil developer are refered to as the rolls royce of oil manufacturers on the drag racing scene from pro stock bikes through to the top fuel dragsters.
just thought i would share this info with you and make you aware of the product should you wish to give it a try or run it back to back on the dyno against other leading oils as from what i have heard it wil be triumphant.

i'm sure if we get enough intrest their could be a healthy cliosport discount available to us!!:) it sells at demon tweeks for around 8 quid a litre i think but after talking with steve i'm sure somthing can be arranged price wise if people want to give it a try.

i looked into it about 2 years ago.....good stuff but most definately not the be all and end all.

It costs a fortune and only thie top end stuff is worth talking about, and not for too long. I've seen a fair amount of comparative oil analysis data on it and its not really any different to another synthetic. MPZ additive....hmm, that couldnt stand for Moly/Phosphorous/zinc could it? Exactly the same AW additives any other oil runs?

nothing to get overly excited about.

Oils a funny thing, silkolene is flooding the market, cheap and quite good, but they havent been dabbling in double esther for a long time.

have you done any dyno comparison stuff youself ben? i think it is something we should look into doing over the summer. my back ground as far as performance motor sport goes is almost all in the drag racing scene.
most of the guys in this swear by torco and as you probably know its a sport where the machine and its tuner are the most dominant factor appose to the rider or driver although of course they still count. Split secods count in this game and we certainly see the difference when changing oil types is concerned. for example when we change from braking oil on a new motor to the sr 5 0w20 the bike will run 1 tenth faster without fail. there are racers who have run other brands and found that the change to torco is worth a tenth for them also. not saying the other stuff is bad. just stating that the torco is a proven and reliable product and was offering it as another option to the guys on here. like i said any quieries whatsover call steve. he worked for mclaren on the f1 cars for 10 years so aint just some dummy trying to sell a product. he actually knows a fair bit about performance engines and getting the most from them in all departments.

One persons race oil is another persons flush oil.

It goes round and round and its very unlikely that anybody will come to a 'best oil' conclusion.

Everybody will swear by one brand, favouratism is rife and always will be.

Some fantastic race oils a plain junk in a road car, and some daily suty oils, even performance, are useless in proper race engines.

For instance, Royal purple are probably my favourite simply because of the oil analysis and VOS data i have seen. However this only applies to their race oils (which are probably one of, if not the best oils), diesel oils and gear oils.....i wont touch their plain road oils. Knowing what is good, rather than 'who' in this part of the game is more important than the addage 'its who, not what you know'.

Some people LOVE redline and the stupid amounts of additives they run, but lack of detergents to hold viscosty properties, but i find that redline is junk in a very very short period.

Where racers find time, especially in the tenths region, they need to analyse why the oil is generating what in real terms, especially for drag racing, is creating a tents worth of power. Which is most likely to be quite a substantial amount of power for anything running under 12 seconds.

the best thing is to buy a batch of oil and keep a sample before to send off for testing with a used sample from different periods of running.

Federal mogul did alot of research into engine bearing failure and found that oil had very very little to do with anything, 90% of failures were simply down to dirt.
