Towing Eye Bolt Size

Have found a tow strap in the garage, as you do (and a steering wheel boss for a Clio), and was going to fit it. But looking around at what people have done and need to do as it wont fit on because of the bumper and I dont want to cut it, so need to mount it on an angle bracket.
The holt in e strap mounting plate fits through the towing eye, so was just wondering if anyone knows what size thread it is so I can either nock up a bolt or find one.

It looked an odd size on the towing eye. Cheers though! Task for this weekend is to source a bracket and a few bolts to do this.
