Toyo Proxes..

... are so bad in the damp/wet.

I always knew they were dodgy in the wet.. but I wondered if it was me.. but no, I really do think they are very poor in the wet.

Thats all.. heh!

yes they bloody well are crap

ive never owned a set of tyres worse than them on a car ever before

even the clio 1.2 16v struggled to keep traction

in essence, id have been better off going with the standard contis - that gives an indication as to how bad the toyos are

I had some Toyo Proxes on my 306 Rallye and although not the best tyres in the wet, they werent that bad and Ive had worse...

The best tyres I had were Bridgestone S-02s and they were awesome in the wet!

I didnt think they were that bad, but then I did have Yoko A539s on before, and A520s before them so anything would be better in the wet.

Although I cant believe how good my Goodyear GSD3s are in the wet (and dry), absolutely awesome. Couldnt run my car on another tyre now, Ive got used to the grip of these babies!

I dont think that they are that bad, I wouldnt put them on anything like a 172 cos I drive quite sensibly in the wet and have felt the tyres start to loose grip around corners, can also spin them very easily in the wet, and my car has a fly-mo engine.

Ive had them on my 16v and 172, and didnt think they were that bad in the wet? I know they arent anywhere near the best tyre for wet conditions - just think they are adequate.

Im happy enough with mine - way better than the Contis. A snip at £200 for a set of 16s (all in). Good value compared to the £800 I had to pay for a set of 18" F1s a month later for the other car .

Does anyone know what pressure suits the Toyos on track?

Whatever suits your driving style.

Just try it out with a few different pressures, and go with the one your most happy with....

Personally i found that the toyos were ok in damp/wet conditions.

but when there is standing water or similar conditions to hard rain they struggle.

I found about 34 front and 32 rear. Sounds low I know but that was best for me. Its like driving on ice if you go above 38. That was for 15" btw.

great in the dry and poop in the wet imo
Yep. Agree.
ditto... and the toyos get progressivly worse in the wet as the tread goes down (still well above legal though)

Ive found them to be fine in any conditions, unless you drive like a nutter!
No offence, but theres a massive difference between getting the power down in a 1.2 and in a 2.0 mate...

The extra power and torque are a big problem!

In the wet, I have trouble getting the power down in my 1.2 in 1st and 2nd gear..

Maybe most of my tyres have been rubbish but ive found my Toyos fine in the wet. They came out as the best wet tyre in the Evo test I think.

In the damp they are rubbish.

In the dry I dont think they are a patch on my old A539s but they were pathetic in the wet.

Ive had

Mich Pilots - they were shocking

Mich VX (I think thats what they were called - for-runner to pilots) - they were good.

Pirelli - P600 - bad bad bad

Pirelli - P7000 - pretty bad

Toyos - average dry - good wet

A539s - Superb dry - shocking wet

Bridgestone S0-2s seem to be the most reccomended tyre made but were discontinued - noise regs I think - and replaced with the not so good S0-3s.

Seen different reports in the GSD3s - may get them next although they won the Evo test it was for how they felt to the drivers but the grip in the dry and wet was bettered by others.

Pity I threw out the test - DOH!

Oh the tyres have been mostly on different cars so that could make a big difference I guess.

No offence taken, but if its wet whats all this about getting the power down. Drive to suit the conditions, not like a nutter.
