Well After a fantastic season getting runner up in class a and also getting driver of the year I though I would do a thread to help promote track attack race club , and the tricolore trophy which I race in.
So car is stripped down getting checked over ready for next years racing .

The provisional calendar so far for next year
May 23 Snetterton 300
June 27 Oulton Park
Aug 1st Castle Combe
Sep 19 Brands Hatch
Oct 24 Donnington
with 2 more to be confirmed

So car is running bearing rear beam with pms strengthening kit and camber shims.
Roll correction kit and bump steer kit
Fibreglass doors , boot lid and bonnet with polycarbonate windows.
High compression engine with throttle bodies , ported head with cat cams and supertec valves.
Lots of other bits and pieces but that’s the main of it
I will try and post my progress as I try to improve the car .
Just like to add a big thank you to rev limit Uk who do all my mapping , and Northloop who does my gearbox rebuilds.

No . Class a is fully modified , but no forced induction (unless original to production car and within Msa regs )and max of 0.5 mm overbore. No sequential boxes.
Class b is modified but standard engine , inlet and exhaust manifolds.
Class f is production car with no mods.
Power to weight has been discussed before but as we are just a small club we don’t have the means to implement something like this.
Full details can be found on the track attack race club website. They should have next years regs up soon but won’t really change from this year.

Bit more progress tonight. Got the engine wired up and a quick test run before connecting the rad back in.
All seams good and engine sounds well.
Only thing I have noticed is the increase in vibration with the pms mounts, also it sits a bit lower as can no longer fit front gearbox mount but can’t see this being an issue.

My front gearbox mount still fits 🤔

The added vibrations are worth it for difference they make on track.

Are you using the Oe loom? I need to figure out out how to wire in the TPS sensor

no its a omex loom and ecu.
to be fair the car has had some front impacts over its life so could be slightly out of shape but was fine on the old mounts. lol

Also fitted a new little upgrade, not sure how much use it will be but thought I would try it.
It’s a tyre pressure monitor for each wheel

Word of warning on these. I ran them in a race at Brands this year and had some contact with another car. As the sensors stick out further than the wheel they ripped the valve out of the tyre. Full deflation and an early bath. I’ll not run them again in a race. Quali/Track days and testing for data etc but not a race

I race with Bob in the Tricolore Trophy (track Attack Race Club), I am in the slightly less modified class - Production Plus.

This class allows all the fancy Trackday modifications (LSD, Suspension, fiberclass etc etc) however the engine has to be standard, you can do the normal things like air box, engine map however you cannot do any engine work. My clio runs at 180bhp.

We have also had an update on our calendar so official ‘provisional’ is belowRaces consist of a 15 minute qualifying session and 2 x 15 minutes races all on the same day.

April 13 - Oulton Park - Supporting British GT Championship
May 8 - Cadwell Park
June 14 - Mallory Park
July 4 - Snetterton [Club BBQ]
Aug 1 - Castle Combe
Sep 12 - Brands Hatch
Oct 24 - Donington

Any questions give me or @bob the builder a shout.

So bit of an update.
After a few issues with oil leaks then overheating lost all faith in the engine so have pulled it out and stripped it. (Was built by someone else) .
Glad I did as although it has had some big money spent on it the build quality is a bit rough. Found loose bolts cheap water pump, standard main bearings , oil jets in wrong position so rebuilding myself.
So first job was to dremmel the slots for the acl tanged bearings and remove oil jets ready for new ones.

Well she’s all in and run up to temp with no problems this time
Even managed to wire up a knock sensor as suggested by my mapper.
Next getting the string line out and check all cambers and toe then off for mapping.

So had a play with the car this weekend . Got the fire extinguisher serviced for the last time as from 2022 it has to be a 4ltr with min 4 nozzles.
Also string lined the car and was surprised that it wasn’t too far out from setting it up from last year.
Just mapping left to do early feb ready for a shakedown / test day at Oulton on the 29th feb to make sure all is ok and that there is no issues with the new larger tyres.

had a play with the pistons from last years engine that suffered some det to see if I could clean them up to reuse to have a spare engine just in case.

So a little update
Managed to get the car into Paul at tpw engineering , #king_tuna1 for mapping and what a job he did. Can’t recommend him enough , really knows his stuff.
Ended up with 243bhp and 196ft lbs torque , which is way more than I was expecting. Lots more low down pull aswell.
So onto oulton park next weekend for a test to check how it feels and to make sure nothing falls off . Lol

Hey @bob the builder, did you end up running this series this year? I'm looking at running it next year
welcome aboard you will have the best time with us. very freindly bunch and always there to help each other out.
what class will you be running in

yeh had a reasonable year considering the covid situation.
car went great and had mutipile podiums and threw away a first at brands as i buckled under the pressure.
really looking forward to next year but still struggling to keep up with a couple of the boys in a straight line as different setups and gear ratios.

just on with a bit of engine fetteling and diy head porting to try and squeeze a few extra ponnies out of it as dont have the money for a gear ratio change.
i should really start another thread for next year but actually remember to update it.pmsl
