Trophy Recaros?

  182
Im looking at changing my front normal 182 seats to some better seats for track, was wondering if recaros would be ok for track use and are they lighter than standard 182 seats ( just to keep the same leather type as before), or should i go for other bucket seats?

cheers

For track use you want fixed buckets really.

If it's a daily the trophy Recaros are brilliant and they aren't too bad as a compromise for both.

Recaro sportster CS are good too, fitted OEM to Clio 197/203, Megan 250, Mini JCW, Corsa OPC etc...
If you read evo, they fitted them to their V6 mk2.
They are available from renault in cloth and from recaro in cloth, leather and alcantara.

I'd give a look at sparco too, I like these, Sparco Chrono Sport:

If your serious about track fixed buckets with high sides all day long

Treadlines are average seats with with massive "recaro" tax on them
nice looking better than standard oem seats but not that track suited IMO

Can't find it on the website, I've read about it on the uk magazine arrived this morning.

There are far better seats than the Recaro, and you don't have to have fixed buckets. In fact, if you're using it as a daily they are a pain in the arse. I ran reclining momo's, and they were awesome as a compromise.
Trendline's are a good seat, but not really any good for track work, and the driving position with them is still piss poor as they retain the standard subframe.

I thought the OMP Design 2 recliners had deeper bolsters than the Trendlines. Felt nicely firm yet still comfy and don't carry the same kind of 'name tax' as the Recaros.

Imagine they're not as supportive as buckets on track, but surely be a worth a look if you're still planning on being able to practically use the rear seats for day to day use.

So are the Recaros in the clio 200 etc better for track use than the trophy ones?

Really? I though it was an issue if you roll it?!

No thats only an issue with harnesses, as the seat belt allows you to bend forward where as harnesses your strapped in upright resulting with your head propping up the roof, should you roll it.

I'm contemplating them sparco chrono's myself, they look uncomfy as hell though, regarding the high rigid sides to they work well if you're quite slim? The like's of reacro's seem to be more moulded so your back sits into them where as with the chrono's they look flat with a big wall either side so can't see them stopping you from sliding about much.

I've tried the Sparcos in a Mini GP, they're comfy and keep you in place better than the recaro trendline or sportster.
I'm 1.78 for 75 kg and I couldn't slide in any direction. They're not very reclined so with the clio steering wheel they should be ideal.
I'd suggest to try them, the seats go very low in the mini but I'm not sure in a clio. They lack a bit of lumbar support, so I'd add a lumbar cushion.

Here's the mini i was talking about:

One thing, they're A LOT lighter than both the trendline and sportster, not to mention the OEM clio seats. These are less than 10 kg each, should be around 7-8.

Cheers for the info Gardus!

Good to know they hug you well, I'm only 5'10 so sitting too low might be bit of an issue but suppose you get used to it? Down as 10 kilo's on the sites that i've come across, what weight are standard seats I wonder?

Love them in yours ;) Makes me wonder whether I should go for all black rather than black/grey.

Seats are 12 kg each with mountings/rails. "Recaro" (they actually are standard seats with reinforced padding and recaro cloth) from the GP were 30kg. I can have them shipped to a UK Adress for 600 euros shipping included.
