I am 18 fully comp on a 1.2 clio and its around £900 on my own no other named drivers, so i dont rekon you will find anywhere much cheaper :( Be careful on those insurance compare sites try going direct to the insurer to get quotes as i found they were cheaper quotes! :)

yeah 18 is obviously quite young i know but i was hoping to be able to get fair quote as a named driver on my dads policy as im at uni and not going to be driving it much at all
he has over 20 years no claims ect so it reduces it alot

Try some of the more specialist companies. Brentacre, Flux, etc. Although not sure if any of them have an over 21 policy or not. Brentacre was the cheapest for me on the C4 by a rather large margin.

Insuring it under your dad and then taking it to uni is a good way to get the insurance void should you have an accident.

I think i tried a quote for my mates 182 once and it was £3,000 this was for a laugh hers is actaully about £400!!!! Just cant believe it.

Put your excess as high as you can reasonably afford to pay if you have an accident or need to claim.

Put your parents on the policy.

Do PassPlus if you've not already done it (and then do the IAM advanced test)

Limit your miles.

Fit a Cat1 alam.

Don't modify it from standard.

All these things will help but, tbh, you're going to get bottom-raped whatever! lol

On a personal note, avoid flux and any policy from Highway insurance (ask your broker who it is offering the insurance if you use a broker).

Try HIC as they've been good for me, or perhaps CIS (who are good for 'normal' cars but I'm not sure about faster ones.)

See I have only had brilliant service from Highway.

Not really the companies fault. More the muppet on the end of the phone that causes problems. Sometimes they are great other times awful. Can happen with any company though.

Did you know HIC are the same company as flux?

If you can afford it and thats where your interest is then why not!
