Turning on the car question.

When i first got my car, the first two starts i did where from off, to the engine being on.

But when my friend saw me doing it he said i have to turn the key so the battery comes on, wait till the little coil light goes off, then start the engine.

This is what i do now, Get in.. put the battery on, put seatbelt on and by this time i can turn the engine on.

So what i want to know is who does this, and is it neccesary?

Diesel, to let the glowplugs warm up. You don't have to do it in a petrol but I always do anyway.

TBH, i do it too as that just my routine. Ignition, seatbelt, start... sometimes doesnt like starting fast from the off position.

I always let it settle as you want to be careful with renualt electrics hehe

I agree. I used to like to hear the fuel pump prime on my Mk1, cant hear it so much on the 172 but I still do it. It's good to see if you get any faults up etc.
