TV Aerial/Freeview

My parents are ditching their desperately un-reliable Telewest Broadband service after xmas and in its place I want to get them Freeview with TopUp TV. They don't watch much TV but enough to warrant a little box with a bit of choice.

Thing is, we don't have an external aerial on our house and my parents don't want to be laboured with the costs of having to get one fitted - nor that fact, do I.

Since I said I'd sort it for them for xmas - can anyone assist me!

I need a decent TV-top aerial which will work with freeview! Any help appreciated - I might have bitten off more than I can chew with this one!

You may have done... BUT!! check argos as they have a number of different ariels that are designed for freeview!

Then........... you have to pray that you get a strong enough digital signal in your area!! we get none as we are surrounded by posh flats which all have sky and the buildings are blocking any possible digital signal!

Nice one mate. I like that rorating Philips one. They saw one in town, was around £30 - made by some shithole of a company in deepest shitville. My dad said to me are they good? I said, Can you pronounce their name? He said no. I said lets stick to what we know then.

Philips aerial - well thats that sorted! Any ideas on a decent freeview box?

Incidentally my dad is in a wheelchair so would prefer something reliable that can be tucked away that doesn't need its power cycling ever other day would be nice!

We have a sony one which has been excellent - we run the DVD player through it too - as it has scart input and output.. will get pic!

(although ours is useless at the moment as we cant get freeview at our new house lol!)

can get it cheaper if you shop around - its not got top up... but IMO its not worth it as the channels on top up are not all that!! you get loads on freeview now anyway!!

if you look at the channels u get on top up... 7.99 per month does seem a bit of a con!!!
