Type R aerial compatibility

I've been to my local scrap yard y'day, and found a CTR there, so i took the chance to ask about the aerial, coz i know that the type r aerial fits our clios.

I asked the guy how much for it, he said just take it mate, can have it for free. So i took it, fitted it to my car, but the reception i get from it is terrible, is this normal for the type r aerials??? or is there something up with my aerial mount?..

The standard aerial for the clio, works a treat, so i thought it might have been a dodgy aerial, but i fitted it to my mates CTR, and it worked fine.

Any ideas?

(btw, i'm willing to sell the aerial, so PM if you're interested)

Hmmm.... strange, I can get some channels, but some channels I can't get.

But i very much prefer the look of the CTR aerial to the long one.... but it just dont work aswell.

My car came with a silly stumpy one and reception was terrible, changed t for a long one and get great radio reception now, for me thats far more important than looking 'cool'

I'm with you here, but the standard one is too long for me...

Maybe I should just get the shorter version of the Clio aerial, like the one off a Scenic?

What other aerials could i look at?... I hate the richbrook ones... coz they just chav.

The one i took off looked like standard but was about 7" long, i still have it and would let you have it but it wont fit your car...

as said, 182Punk had one, iirc he had trouble with reception too. PM him, he's local to you

My Honda aerial recieves excellent signal.

Just out of interest Haz or Punk whatever name you go by nowadays, do you have an aftermarket h/u?

the guy from the scrap yard clearly couldn't be arsed with you saying you were gonna buy it, and that you would wire him the monies, so he just gave you one that was broken.

IIRC he has one of those DVD players of ebay, eion or whatever there called.
