tyre choice?

  Clio 182 ff cup pack
hi all, picked up my new pride an joy the weekend, due to get filter, exhaust n remap v.soon
just wondering which tyres r best for performance/price overall, new or part worn.
i have budget tyres on it atm but the car seems to go where i want it to even at high speeds, the guy i bought it off put them on to pass the new mot but i cant help thinking id be better off with some named rubber?
the guy suggested toyo's r v.good and not expensive, but ive also been told, pirelli and michellin
any advice, wana try and spend as little as poss as i wana save the pennies for the performance mods.
i am based near birmingham...
cheers lads

what size tyres and whats your budget ?
ive had toyos which are alright, good for the money but not the best tyre ever made. rainsports 2 are good but apparently wouldnt last a second on a dry track so bare that in mind.
michelin PE2s where good but a bit more expensive, just bare in mind the tyres are the only thing touching the road, if your doing performance mods youll want some fairly good tyres, any of the above would be fine

Dont skimp on one of the most important area's of the car. If you use the car for road use/daily then i would defo put the original tyres back on PE2's iirc. Best thing you will do ;)

  Shit little Yaris...
PE2's are awesome, but toyo T1-R's cant be beat for the price, i paid £29 per tyre delivered!

Cannot agree more... T1R's are ultra epic for the money. Not the best in wet - but severely scare the big boys in the dry.

Sorry but *facepalm*.
You shouldn't be skimping on tyres and considering part worns just so you can spend more on performance mods. That is completely stupid.

not really there is nothing wrong with spending as little as possible for a set of decent tyres, if your looking to buy a set of performance tyres and want to spend as little as poss then toyo T1-R's are what you need, nothing wrong with them.

set of part worn R888's or PE2's would fit the bill too

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
I dont rate Tr1's- especially in the Wet

Hancook v12's are a good tyre for all round durability- I dont think the OP will be shelling out £120 a tyre for PS3's

Conti sport contact 3s, or PE2s

top two road tyres cant beat.

id never go near toyos or nankangs budget tyres hence price . barums are made by conti with a very close tread pattern if you on a low budget try a site called tyreshopper.

PE2 they were made for the 182 not failed me yet in the dry or wet throw the car into to a corner or tight bend and it sticks to the road like glue may have to shop around for them now or get the Michelin Pilot Sport 3
Tyres the one part you shouldn't cut corners on

Amen to that.

I had cheap tyres on my 182 when I bought it and the car was all over the place when pressing on.

I have now got the correct PE2'S on and it has transformed the feel of the car, cheap tyres are definitely a no - no!

just because they are cheap doesnt mean they are no good, i done a track day on T1-R's and they never let me down, they were destroyed at the end of it but hey ho @ £30 a tyre thats not bad for a full day!

Toyo's don't hold a candle to Michellins.

And why bother modifying anything and then hinder the car (and your go faster mods) with cheap tyres?

toyos are not a bad tyre, not the best in the heavy rain but good in dry....my car came with them on an when it was renewal time i put avons on and within a 1000 miles i was putting toyos bac on...also tried michelin and did same.... toyo maybe cheaper in price but not in all round performance, but thats my personal opinion.....

Michelin PS3's are by far the best I've used, superb in both the wet and dry.

Didn't rate the T1-R's when I had them on my Fiesta, much preferred the Eagle F1's I had before.
